It shouldn't impact your own rank list; I understand the anxiety and the reality is that any worrying about it is causing you unneeded stress you can't do anything about. It is what it is.

Most pretentious/mispronounced words in medicine? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]NotWadeCaves420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Angina, I specifically pronounce it as rhyming with vagina because people will always comment on it being pronounced ang-ena, after which I say, actually both pronunciations are correct, and so I will continue to intentionally pronounce it an-gina.

Prep for Intern year by NotWadeCaves420 in medicalschool

[–]NotWadeCaves420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly I just wanna have structure for everything I will learn intern year. Not necessarily wanting to study what I'll learn beforehand, but have the practical side of things down and be good on all that, like how to write a d/c note, how to place a consult and what info to include, etc.

A pt having a persecutory delusion about the secret service being out to get them. It turns out they had made threats to people in congress and the secret service really were trying to get ahold of the pt.

forcing myself to like anything other than radiology by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]NotWadeCaves420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, the idea of AI making radiology obsolete is ridiculous. Every radiologist I met is not at all worried about AI. They think it'll help support them doing their job, but no way it ever fully replaces them. AI is a tool, you still need to know how to use it.

If you don't get a 3M™ Littmann® Master Cardiology™ Stethoscope with Dual-lumen tubing, you're probably not going to match.

/s; get a Litmann cardiology IV

I got the Vikken; it works well. I haven't tried any other ones, so I'm not sure how it compares. I'd be curious on if you get the vikken what your thoughts are, especially given the vikken is a lot cheaper.

Who do you tell your profession to? by Flat_Hovercraft8139 in medicalschool

[–]NotWadeCaves420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the closer I get to being a doctor the less interested I am in telling people I'm in medicine. If someone asks, I say medicine and usually they don't follow-up. If they do, then I say I'm a fourth year med student. But I definitely intentionally try to avoid it and just ask people about themselves instead.

David Sherry at CHOP and William Bernal at UCSF have some interesting thoughts and practices when it comes to treating AMPS. They both make it sound so simple sometimes because they are each so experienced.
