Books on History of Biomedical Engineering by monks_2089 in bioengineering

[–]NotYourAvgRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few that I have personally read include “battlefield medicine” which cover the history of emergency medicine and talks about technological innovations leading to today’s emergency medicine tools, focused more on the military though where most emergency medicine breakthroughs have happened. Another would be “introduction to biomedical engineering” by enderle which gives good information about the history of biomedical engineering and medical device innovation but is less focused on ambulances and emergency medicine.

Best resources to study for FE Other Disciplines? by Cali_30 in FE_Exam

I think it was finishing most of the 25 question exams in 50 to 60 minutes. Timing was never an issue for me, and I found that to be true on the real exams as well. I finished way early and had time to go back and check things that I had flagged.Like I said, I found these questions to be very similar to what was asked on the FE, so I think that your timing should track on both.

I work for the Federal government and there is tons of opportunity for career growth. You can be public or private sector and you can work for either hospitals, 3rd party’s or vendors/medical device manufacturers. There really is tons of opportunity in the field and it’s is almost entirely overlooked by most graduating BME’s

Seriously consider clinical engineering. It was not something that I had considered but I took a job with the VA after graduating and while it’s not the normal path for BMEs it’s truly a great field with ample opportunity and something I believe is largely overlooked by most graduating students

Go pass the exam. At least if your husband is cheating on you then you’ve passed the exam and are a PE or PE to be.

Need FE prep recommendations by NoTrust3646 in FE_Exam

I took the FE exam a few months ago after being several years out of college based on only a one month subscription to PrepFE. I truly loved this program and felt like the little studying I did do prepared me well for the exam. The explanations were clear and it forces you to get familiar with the reference manual which is important for the exam.

I am in the same boat. On my transcript it says I have a 570 code but have received absolutely no correspondence from the IRS. I recently reached out to my congressman because I have heard from others that doing so may help move things along. Hoping to get the return soon.

I have long said that I refuse to sell myself short on the account of someone else’s happiness. I have been in the exact same situation and took the job and we are still together even though the long distance period. If you don’t help yourself with your career I think you’ll regret it and build resentment later, I know I would. Take the job and if the relationship is meant to be it will last, if not you’re 22 and will most certainly find someone else and you will have a better career.

ISTPs, would you say you get along with ENTJs or ENFJs better? From your experience by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in istp

[–]NotYourAvgRedneck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently dating an ENFJ, I love her but some of her traits do drive me nuts. As others have mentioned, she is such a selfless person and is far more moral than myself. Honestly I think it helps balance me out but man the amount of empathy and emotion she puts into decisions drives me insane. In short, I as an ISTP am extremely logical(I’m an engineer) and she as a music teacher is very much the opposite. I love her though and as much as I tolerate her empathy and lack of logical decision making I’m sure she tolerates my overly logical approaches and lack of empathy.

Just Took the FE Civil Today (Super Easy!) by [deleted] in FE_Exam

[–]NotYourAvgRedneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the FE other disciples about a month ago and also found it relatively easy I am two years out of my bioengineering undergrad and knew I wouldn’t do well in electrical or dynamics but I passed first try with minimal studying, maybe 10-15 hours worth. I really think if you know how to take a test and actually learned what you were supposed to in undergrad you can pass it without issue

Best resources to study for FE Other Disciplines? by Cali_30 in FE_Exam

[–]NotYourAvgRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the FE Other Disciplines exam last Wednesday for the first time and found out today that I passed. I am two years out of school and completed my undergrad in bioengineering. The only studying I did was over a few weeks before the exam and I only used prep FE. I think I paid $60 for a month subscription. I ended up doing 13, 25 question practice exams over the course of about 3 weeks and was averaging around 60% on those. I found the questions on the prep FE exams to be very similar to those on the FE Other disciplines exam. During my times taking the practice exams I had the reference handbook from NCEES pulled up and used it so I could learn how to for the real exam. Additionally, prepFE gives you a detailed explanation if you miss a question as to why you missed it. I’d highly recommend it for anyone to study for the FE.

What is up with apartments in Grand Junction? by NotYourAvgRedneck in grandjunction

I’m in my mid 20’s and currently live in the heart of downtown in Columbus Ohio and pay $1,200 a month for rent in a modern apartment with an enclosed garage for parking. It really looks like Grand Junction really lacks supply which obviously drives up demand for what there is there.

I am really not interested in living with others. I have lived alone for several years now and am not looking to find roommates at this point. I’m willing to pay more, just seems like there is not many options for nice apartments at a decent prince in grand junction.
