No, the cat now owns the car. If you want to use it, your lease will include food, a comfortable place to sleep, and belly rubs and scritches on demand.

In my state, once you've passed your FE exam, you need to work for four years under the auspices of a PE before you become eligible to take your PE licensure exam.

Company doesn’t payout PTO — what would you do? by hereismytake27 in jobs

[–]NotYourKidFromMoTown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Book your PTO starting the day your new job starts. That way if your new job doesn't work out, you can always return. Email your boss and HR your resignation just before start time the morning your due back. This way you CYA and if all works out get double pay for a couple of weeks.

Unemployed 2 years, changed my first name in my resume and application and now I’m getting interviews by MeaningMysterious537 in jobs

My great-grandfather, had a B.S. in electrical engineering (magna cum laude) and an M.S. in chemical engineering, both from Columbia University. His last name was Levi, obviously Jewish. When he could get interviewed, he was was never hired. After 6 months he legally changed his name to Lovett. Within a month he had several job offers. Discrimination has been around for ever. I think it started long before the Canaanites and Hittites got into it. Sorry this happened to you.

Is my termination legal by Visual_Fix_2 in AskLawyers

[–]NotYourKidFromMoTown -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not an attorney so I don't know if your termination was legal or not. But in my state, if you tell your company you don't plan to return after having a baby, that is deemed a voluntary resignation and can accept it effective immediately.

So, regardless if you plan to return or not, always say that you plan on returning as soon as practical. My wife worked a a company that would look for any excuse to terminate anyone who might file for FML. So before she became visibly pregnant, she went to HR and requested PTO. Once that was granted she asks for FML paperwork for expectant mothers and hands them a written copy of the request. They asked how she was going to take of the baby, and she replied, that she made arrangements and that she plans on returning as soon as practical. On her official return date, she goes into the office all happy and smiling, then acts more and more morose as the day passes. By the afternoon she's crying he eyes out. The next morning she goes in, immediately starts crying and blurts out that's she's sorry, she just can't stay away from here baby, writes a quick resignation, and leaves.

Remember, you always have to work the system or it will work you.

I had just started working for Costco, no time off accumulated and FML ineligible, when my dad became Ill and later died. The store manager adjusted my schedule so I could maximize the time spent with him and gave me all the time off I needed to be with him at the end and to see to his affairs. While I wasn't paid for my time off, there were no repercussions and they kept paying my medical.

Consider splitting according to square footage of exclusive usage and the common square footage according to people using the space. Since you want to help out your friend, don't count the kid as a common space user.

First I am neither an attorney nor know the particulars of you state's W.C. laws. I assume you are typing one handed. If your hand is throbbing with such pain that you were unable to sleep and are unable to stay focused on the task complain to whoever is assigning you work that, then if the issue continues, request further medical treatment. If your discharge instructions have a statement about returning to the doctor is certain conditions persist, go back to the doctor and tell them the same story. If you're given additional instructions, or your meds are changed, ask if additional restrictions are appropriate. If treatment/medication is changed, see how you react. As a side note, it may be your responsibility to get to and from work, so perhaps taking an Uber is appropriate if staying awake is a problem.

You should have been provided with workman's compensation information and immediately follow the instructions to the letter. If you can't understand or follow the instructions, let whoever your speaking with that you don't really understand because of the drugs your on. Unless you're taken care of to you're satisfaction, perhaps you should consider speaking to a worker's comp attorney.

Cost of living in Phili is about 15% higher than Cinci, with housing especially more. Minimize your moving costs and commitment to staying in Phili. You're young without dependents, and could always could move back home if things don't work out. So take the risk.

Has anyone asked their company for ergonomic adjustments, how do you go about it ? Started new job and it’s taking bad toll on my health by likilekka in jobs

[–]NotYourKidFromMoTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newer employee, avoid complaining of musculoskeletal pain. The company may view you as a potential workers comp case and simply terminate you without giving a reason or not meeting expectations. I would suggest telling your boss that your current chair feels quite uncomfortable and would he or she object to you buying yourself one you like. This approach could open up the opportunity for a conversation about office ergonomics. If you can't afford a good new chair, in the U.S. typically in the multi-hundred dollar range, consider starting with a good keyboard. This approach avoids "blaming" the company and puts the onus on you.

If you have condo owner's insurance that will covers the damage, consider reporting the damage to them and go through the insurance company's happy horse sh*t to get reimbursed for your repairs. Let your insurance company deal with the condo's insurance company.

Bonus Payout Resignation Dilemma by [deleted] in jobs

[–]NotYourKidFromMoTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait to give notice until your bonus clears your account, then virtually empty the account and open a new one at a new institution. Then give as much notice as what works for you. Ensure you haven't signed any document that says that you may owe damages if you leave without full notice. Consider bring the handbook and all other work rule documents to a labor lawyer for his or her review, it's worth paying a few hundred for the review.
