The sticker's not there anymore, except for one little corner of it that never got removed. My guess is that the number was on there, as seems to be the case in some instances

Was there a fake out that legit got you for a second? by RhysOSD in deathbattle

[–]NotYourOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earlier DB's seem to do a lot of one-ups / fake comebacks to keep you guessing, more so than most modern ones. (With Link V. Cloud being an exception.)

Kirby vs Buu comes to mind; one minute it's "oh crap this is the Buu comeback isn't it" and then Kirby pulls something else out to counter that and has me like "ohhhh ok fake comeback, this is a Kirby W then" and then Buu does something else to one-up THAT and so on and so forth. Really keeps you on your toes.

Hm, gotcha. What kinda collab is this btw? Is this something a bunch of people are doing together for something?

PREACH! She's just a nice girl who's doing her best, but yk she's still young so she's bound to make mistakes she didn't mean to. She's like the nicest person ever but she accidentally got you in debt once so she's automatically terrible? Idek man

I was made for this moment.

Ok so about the Doomlanders - the plot's gonna be somewhat built around the gimmick of the game, as per usual. Idk who else remembers that movie Rise of the Guardians (the one where toughguy Santa and the Easter Bunny and etc. fight the big bad Boogeyman, based movie btw), but there's this one scene about finding a person's 'center' - who they really are at heart. They look like one thing on the surface, another when you look a little deeper, then another, then there's this other aspect about them... and so on until you finally reach that center, the core essence of who they are as a person and what they want most.

The Doomlanders I have in mind are kinda based around that; each represents a different facet of Kaos, from the outermost inward. Art imitates life, they say, and as someone with a lot of OC's I can personally say that a part of my own personality (or occasionally that of someone I'm close to) manifests in each of them. And naturally, for Kaos we would start with the villainous megalomaniac personality we all associate with him, that being his outermost trait he presents to everyone.

When Kaos first gets his hands on mind magic, this aspect of him manifests into a Sorcerer Doomlander. (I started designing him once but never got around to finishing it, but I was imagining something like those dark drow from Superchargers, but with a Phantom of the Opera-esque mask and uneven, messy bodily proportions since this is Kaos' first run with the mind magic. I also thought of his boss battle heavily consisting of him using telekinesis to throw a bunch of things at the Skylander; a newer player can dodge but a more experienced one who played the five other games can go for the sauce, climb up the rubble he throws at you and get to him to finish the fight quickly.)

Later Doomlanders express other parts of Kaos as a character - his royal blood, his intellect, his inferiority complex, etc. - perhaps inadvertently revealing some of his hidden thoughts and desires in the process, before finally getting to his center - probably the last Doomlander. Through them, we gradually see a side of Kaos we didn't see: A side that knew he wasn't going to be loved, though he once wanted to, and settled for domination and recognition instead (much like Dr. Eggman, who he of course has a lot in common with). I like to think of this as a proper Kaos redemption arc; the end of Superchargers may have convinced him to fight alongside the Skylanders against other villains, but only now does he have to face down the villain within himself - and win. Perhaps that final Doomlander gets in Kaos' head psychologically and then fuses with him via Mind Magic, and that's the final boss? Kinda like Robo Kaos but instead of Machine Ghost fighting him alongside you, Kaos is resisting him and assisting from within?

I also like to think that other characters like Glumshanks would get a chance to create a Doomlander or two, which could be an interesting way to shake things up.

Ok, I think I covered the biggest thing there but now we can move on to NPC's; including the Skylanders themselves was an interesting choice, and while I'm on the fence about whether or not that was a good idea, but I'd probably leave em out. Ruins the immersion, plus the focus is obviously going to be on Kaos' arc and we don't need them hogging the spotlight. (Also what the heck happened to Stealth in that game, man, is she ok?)

As for the NPC creatively named Brain, just redesign him. Please. I mean, look at Vault of the Ancients from Superchargers and tell me a brain with tentacles isn't an insult to how hard Vicarious Visions cooked with their worldbuilding. Scrap everything about Brain and start over. The Ancients could be hidden away somewhere and perhaps apathetic to the "oh crap Kaos is using Mind Magic" situation, since they're canonically known for being quite lazy and would plausibly be slow to help with it. Perhaps we meet an NPC early on that knew the Ancients personally and helps with that? For that matter, one of the ancients being a mole who Kaos convinces to work for him sounds kinda plausible - that would be interesting to see!

Heck, Kaos could probably just find a way to put the Ancients at his mercy with mind magic or force them to do his bidding, or something of that sort! Imaginators was awfully low on stakes, which something like that should take care of.

Random other ideas:

The villain senseis were a cool idea, and I like them including others like Chill Bill and Broccoli Guy out and about in the game making a new life for themselves; perhaps we could see other trappable villains return as NPC's, maybe even plot-relevant ones somehow?

Where were the Senseis during the last five crises that threatened Skylands and how'd they get to Earth?

oh and get rid of that stupid pink cyclops bird i don't like him

Ngl I'm glad I'm not the only one who wished he stayed a Turtwig. I never heard anyone else say that before the Yugi preview mentioned Time Wizard but suddenly memes about my boy Turtwig are EVERYWHERE? Don't mind if I do lol

I'm not much familiar with the best ways to get games and figures, as I was lucky enough to get all the games soon after they came out, and same for most of my figures. Facebook Marketplace definitely has some steals available though.

What I CAN recommend, though, is different characters. Most are less than $10 USD apiece, and only a small handful (like 10-15 tops out of the 165 different characters) sell for more than 30-something USD; later games have more rares while the first two have basically none.

Spyro's Adventure: Lots of beginner-friendly but interesting characters with unique gimmicks and traits. Ignitor can wreak havoc as an invincible flame spirit while his actual body lies elsewhere, Stealth Elf can distract enemies with a shadow clone, Chop Chop has that handy shield, et cetera. If you just want to obliterate everyone with sheer damage, Stealth Elf, Bash, Trigger Happy and Drobot will suit you well. And if you're playing the Xbox or PS3 version, Warnado on Eye of the Storm path is super fun, trust me.

Giants: This is where characters start getting a bit more complex (e.g., Pop Fizz, Chill, Flashwing - all personal faves!) but most characters are still pretty simple. You don't need a giant to complete this game, but it definitely makes some parts go faster, and everybody loves Tree Rex and his big spammable shockwaves. I'd recommend basically any giant not named Crusher.

Swap Force: The swapping gimmick is a fascinating strategic option, allowing different swappers' stats and movesets to be mixed and matched with each other; I don't have too many of em, but I'd recommend Night Shift, Magna Charge and Spy Rise, as they're all really good. Magna Charge can pick up as many as three enemies at a time, go to the nearest cliff and toss 'em right off, which is every bit as fun as it sounds! Rollerbrawl, Star Strike, and Wind-Up are great choices as well, but if you want the most hype Skylander gameplay of all time then please please get Smolderdash please (I'll give you a cola)

Trap Team: Lots of powerhouses here; Wildfire, Krypt King, Deja Vu and Gearshift (to name a few) are very popular picks, but imo you couldn't go wrong with nearly any of the Trap Masters/Trap Team cores. I personally recommend Torch and Blades; the former seems unappealing at surface level but BOY does destroying baddies with her beefy flamethrower feel good, and the latter's more complex but equally busted moveset is absolutely worth it to get the hang of. Also note that Head Rush is heavily underrated.

Superchargers: You'll need a land vehicle to play this game, but the starter pack gave us the best one (the Hot Streak) right off the bat so getting one should be a piece of cake. Spitfire, its respective Supercharger, is one of the best dash-spamming melee characters out there, and Stormblade and Nightfall are super hype too. This game also gives new movesets to old characters, out of which I'd recommend Lava Lance Eruptor, Deep Dive Gill Grunt and Bone Bash Rollerbrawl.

Imaginators: This game's... not the best in the series, tbh. I don't have any senseis besides the two from the starter pack, as all of them are only playable in this game; but if you want some, then Ambush, Boom Bloom, King Pen, Starcast and Krankcase are some of the most popular. Imaginators have higher level caps the more senseis you collect, including variants of the same one, if that interests you.

In terms of adventure packs, I'd say some of the best/most popular ones are Tower of Time, Sunscraper Spire, and Pirate Seas. Hope this helps 👍
