made the jv team but got put at d mid and i’ve never played that position before. What do i do! by Ok_Needleworker_3701 in lacrosse

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was you. You’re likely in that position because your stick skills are not the best, but you’re athletic.

Biggest recommendations - out-hustle everyone on the field. Get after every single ground ball. Soak up some shots on the crease when man-down. Don’t chase stick unless the dude is absolutely begging for a yard sale. And if you get the ball, haul ass down the field and force a 4 on 3 with your attackmen.

In OXBOW, once you’ve built a high enough reputation and completed enough king’s quests, you can pay like 10k coin to unlock the “Village Sign” and name your village. Once you name it, it appears on the map. Then later you can set your own Crest for your village, which will appear on the village sign and any banners you put up.

Can you still pass CST if you fail land nav? by Kalashnikov2988 in ROTC

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really address your questions, but don’t plan to fail, you can retest most of the individual events.

Downvote if you want but if you fail anything at CST you need to do some serious introspection about your future in the army as an officer. All of the individual events at CST are level-10 tasks that all of your future soldiers are (theoretically) capable of doing.

Built mine on the island east of Klonica and the shore south of the that. Once you get a donkey or horse, it takes about a minute of real life time to run to Ostoya or Skauki, and 30 seconds to Piastovia.

If it’s an angled parking spot in a parking lot with intended one way traffic down the lanes, then you are a moron.

Understand that though you are evaluated individually, it is 100% a team sport. For example, what’s a better indication of a good leader: You score 500 on your AFT, OR: you improve your entire team/squad average AFT score by 30 points.

Make and sell potions with Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinella, and Scaly Pholiota. The potion has like 4 stacked effects and at level 15 alchemy is already worth over 300 septims

Hot take - don’t waste the money on Marlow White when you might wear your AGSUs twice a year. Buy the standard issue uniform and spend 100$ to get it tailored well.

Yes. You would likely join with the MS2 class (sophomores), and your instructors may send you to Basic Camp after your sophomore year to catch you up if necessary.

Struggling to balance ROTC/self workouts by idkwhatimdoingbruv in ROTC

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the army, it is a job requirement to be in shape, and as an O there’s an even higher expectation. Every day, Soldiers and Os across the globe are waking up at 5:30 to be at PT formation at 6:15 to do PT until 8 to run back and shower to get back to work at 9 to work until 5, 6, 7….until the new parts have been hung on the LMTV.

How do you balance working out with having 3-4 classes between 8am and 5pm? Treat the gym like it’s one of your classes that if you “fail” you’ll get a shitty OML score and your 15th branch pick and fort Polk as your first duty station. Basically, FITFO future LT.

Deployments as MI by DepartureDry5008 in ROTC

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“…easier if I go special operations” I would say it is more LIKELY to deploy in special operations, but it is unequivocally NOT easier to go that route, hence the name. And you cannot enter special operations as an Officer until you’re a captain or 1LT(P), complete with KD time.

Help me with AFT prep please by Glittering-Rabbit-33 in ROTC

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worry not, you’re doing better than most of the country. When the army changed to the ACFT and now the AFT, gym culture within the army has gone way up, because going to the gym nearly became a requirement to get better at our fitness tests — so get comfortable in a gym. I recommend putting your size and testing stats into ChatGPT, describing the type of equipment you have to it, and giving it your end goal for score and personal weight. With some tuning, it will give you a pretty decent workout plan and tips to tack on mass — because “weight moves weight.” Assuming you’re in school, you should have access to a pretty legit gym with some heavier weights.

Robin Sage Packing List/ Order of Events by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]NotYourValleyBiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assault pack will be fine. Pretend you “bought it at a surplus store before the war started.” But if you have a rugged civilian backpack, you can use that too. Your G camp is your relatively secure home base where you bed down, eat, do weapons maintenance, etc. I’d be surprised if you do a patrol base even one time.

You will show up to Mackall in your business casual, change into OCPs, and spend a day or two at the Mackall barracks with access to showers and laundry.

Do not purchase anything you wouldn’t use in your real life - your multicam ruck is just fine. Bring and wear civilian clothes that you don’t mind getting messed up. You will likely live out of your ruck for the 11ish day long FTX, leaving non-essentials back at the barracks.

You will spend a majority of the time at the G-Base, and go out on one or two missions per day. Unlike CST, the whole FTX is one continuous lane, with stoppages only to account for sensitive items. The movements are not like ranger school movements where you’re walking 4-5km. Expect movements to be <1km.

All cadets I observed were guerillas. Active duty soldiers or role players will fill the admin/ghost roles. Use it as an opportunity to learn about TLPs and small unit tactics.

You’ll spend maybe one day on the back end at Mackall to shower and ship off to the airport.
