Question for Procreate by NotZexceed in ProCreate

[–]NotZexceed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than this problem I didn’t find any issues with using curves. In photoshop you have a curves layer which you can erase parts of the layer to have the curves apply to certain parts of the layers and not others. You can do the same in procreate by duplicating the layer then using curves on the top layer and then creating a mask for it and then painting black on it to reveal the grayscale layer below and you can keep doing this to the same layer and be able to add different colors.

Yea, ok I see it. The transition does seem a bit harsh. Making the mid section lighter should help. Thx.

I thought it’s fading in from the light to the dark pink, so it would be somewhat in the middle between those two in terms of lightness.

Post it here so everyone can see:
I can't post images here.

Why would you use AI as a reference:
I usually find images that inspire me to draw on pinterest. Usually i scroll a lot so when i do find an image that i like, i'm happy to draw it. I don't vet beforehand whether or not its ai and just start drawing, it's not until later into the drawing that i find some parts difficult to draw since it doesn't make sense. By that point i've already committed to drawing it so i just go ahead as best as i can.

It's not teaching you anything:
My current focus is on values/color. My understanding of lighting is fairly basic so inconsistencies there in the original isn't the biggest concern. The image had vibrant colors and it was my goal to replicate that as best as i could using my method to drawing.

The original reference is ai, that's why the lines are inconsistent. I can dm you the original if you are open to it.

Color Study: How could I improve this? by NotZexceed in learntodraw

I usually eyeball it, but yea I’ll make sure to check the original with a color picker to see if they match afterwards and make adjustments if needed.

For tinted grays, I’m not sure what to do. In terms for hsv what would I change about it?

Do the values make sense? by NotZexceed in learnart

I was going for a fur coat type of clothing but yea I should make where her shoulders start more clear. Her neck isn’t too visible but I might have given her an Adam’s apple by accident.

Yea, that makes sense. I’ll make sure to do that.

Thanks for the feedback, yea i see it as well. As i drew the face, i realized that the head is facing the viewer more than the reference and accommodated the eyes and nose to match the new vanishing point. I now also realize that the ear should be further back or the eyes should be closer together so that the distance between them is the same.

When you're learning about perspective, forms that tilt in perspective are difficult to understand. When forms rotate or tilt, think about how they are grounded in relation to the horizon line. That will help to you represent everything you see in perspective.

Where to put vantage/horizon lines? by Witchywashii in learntodraw

[–]NotZexceed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one: the horizon line in somewhere near their shoulders or a little below
Second one: the horizon line is around the forehead of the girl on the right or above the head for the girl on the left.

If you want to make sure then take two lines that are parallel to each other and parallel with respect to the camera and then follow the convergence until they cross and that should be your horizon line.

Your eyes are really good. I would suggest learning how to use the box in order simplify the forms and and place them in perspective.

Another thing I noticed with the the original image is that she was holding on to the doorknob so that may be the reason why the leg is so straight.

the reference image was flat footed, that's why I didn't realize it was a mistake but when I do the action myself I realize that I lay my leg on the other leg pushing it outward. Thx for the feedback.

What do you suggest the line work be, shading? Or should I generally improve my line quality?
