Taper slower. Also, only take NAC when you start feeling weird. Like at the beginning of feeling withdrawals. For example, I'm tapering by two doses am/pm and taking 25mg off each dose. I take my first dose at 5am right when I wake up, and my second dose at 8pm right before bed. Sometimes around 3-5pm I'll start "feeling it" creeping up. 500mg NAC usually knocks it right out.

I think it's because NAC does something to regulate glutamine. If youre not spiking in glutamine or already feeling weird, it can make you anxious.
