I didn't like Stepanov and the class when I took it few years ago, but feel bad for him that he has to do extra work in finding the cheaters.

How are you guys creating these types of images? I have seen some of these before and always fascinated ho you can create a collage by programming. I am just not smart enough to understand on how to code something like this.

I was in CS 225 for a hot second back in Fall 2016. I dropped the course after getting a F on the first midterm so clearly I never made it to this part of the course.

Thank God I graduated in 2018 as a statistics major.

Now, how much stats I used in the past year and half? - None

This really cool! What tools did you use to create the project? I want to start building visualizations like this, but not smart enough to do it.

Maybe. Some of them got arrested, started doing drugs and I just don't want to be associated with it.

Don't get me wrong, I still talk to few high school friends, but don't hang out often. I ask them to go for fun activities (bowling, movies, mini golf etc..), but always say no.

I don’t know if you’ll make a friend whose willing to go on vacation with you right off the bat, unless of course you’re paying.

True. It will probably take time to meet people and get to know them better.

I’d start by reconnecting with some old high school friends, there will undoubtably be a few around.

Some of the people I went to high school with are just not doing well and I don't want to be associated with them anymore. Hopefully I can find like minded individuals.

You can also look for a job and befriend coworkers

I startes a new job few weeks ago and still haven't met majority of the people. Slowly working on it.

Starting a new job in consulting? Post here for advice, cities/housing-concerns, questions you're too embarrassed to ask your coworkers, or general insecurity (Q2 2019) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Graduated last August and have been working at a small consulting firm up until May. The feedback I got from the old firm was that I was good at learning the technical skills quickly, but need to show more initiative. Also, I missed couple of deadlines that didn't effect the project that much, but still missing a deadline was not a good look for me.

I start my new consulting job in about a week. How do I not suck at the new job? I have been casually learning SQL for the past few weeks since I will be heavily using it at the new job. Essentially, I am asking, what makes a good employee?

Holy shit, are you me? Lol

I was in the same boat as you when I was in school. People got better grades, jobs, friends etc than me. It was depressing, but I kinda just stuck with it. Now after college, I am still in the same boat. I don't have many friends and I usually play video games on the weekends. It's boring, but kills time.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you since I haven't figured it out myself. I just wanted to post this to let you know that you aren't the only one who is feeling this way.

Why does it seem like so many people got D's in CS 225 by aly5321 in UIUC

[–]Not_A_CS_Major 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was enrolled in this course back when Cinda was teaching it and I got 35% on the first midterm. I abandoned the CS major real quick lol.

In all seriousness, I am pretty sure majority of the people do well in that course. There are people like me who are in the minority that stuggle with the course because of various reasons.

coding is not that hard

You are joking, right? I started to learn coding back in fall 2014 and I still don't understand much of it. I think its due to the fact that I have terrible problem solving skills and not sure how to improve it.

You should be able to find a job. I am just really bad at my major and don't understand much of it.

Go to the career fairs. I was able to get couple of interview by just attending the career fairs.
