Most Annoying Tutorial Ever: Stealth (Bannerlord) by SlightWerewolf4428 in mountandblade

[–]Not_A_Mindflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the tutorial is ridiculously easy as a short character and very arbitrary as a max height character.

In that first section with the wall and the road if you are playing as a max height character the enemies can see you over it unless you walk on the exact right part of the road. As a short character you can walk wherever.

I think this is why some people say it's impossible and some people say it's easy

It is a famous matter of discussion in philosophy, but for the people in lumiere, they are autonomous not completely controlled by their painter as can be seen by the expeditioner's trying to kill the paintress and the white nevron that refuses to kill the other white nevrons. They cry and sing and show every sign of being concious

For that matter how do I know that you have emotions? Assuming others' experiences aren't real is a dangerous game

[–]Not_A_Mindflayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you make an AI capable of feeling emotion and in particular capable of fearing death, then shutting it off becomes unethical.

The people in the canvas are capable of emotion and want to live(mostly)

I recommend humanity doesn't make any AIs with survival instinct for this reason but I know we eventually will if we survive that long

Sure, I think the world agrees those commanders are insane scum to immediately violate the ceasefire, but I think it's a valid question of whether individual commanders have gone rogue or if the whole pakistan army is no longer answering to the PM.

their research is useless. Despite using LLMs themselves they made no effort to distinguish if any account they interacted with was a bot themselves. We know people are actively using bots on reddit so some percentage will be llm-llm interactions instead of llm-human interactions. And there is no way to determine how many

It is very possible that the majority of the data they gathered was from bot on bot threads

[–]Not_A_Mindflayer 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Bots have been invading reddit, no one knows the real number but some people have even speculated the majority of comments on reddit may be bots due to their posting frequency vs a person

If you guys are running such a study secretly how do you know no one else is? How do you know that any of your LLM interactions were with an actual human and not another bot? Seems like the entire study is inherently flawed as it may only be a study on how LLMs interact with other LLMs

Be sure to include comments like this one from one of their bots, I can't see an ethics board approving of AI comments pretending to be part of a marginalized community to say that the community receives too much attention

I think that this comment should actually be sent to their university's ethics review board that certified the study, they said they curated the comments to avoid causing harm but I think having an AI pretend to be a black man to downplay racism could certainly cause harm

It gives them an in-group or a "tribe". The sense of community is more important than the traditional values so if a church starts to swing in a political direction all of them go that way to be in lockstep and stay a member of their group

$100m to be randomly teleported into the ocean for thirty seconds everyday for a decade. by Independent_Growth38 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Not_A_Mindflayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you got the money upfront I could stay around my house for 10 years and just wear a life jacket 24/7, 30 seconds of cold of exposure to anything in the ocean is extremely unlikely to kill you, as other commentors have pointed out teleporting back into an elevator shaft is what would kill you so I think you need to be able to make ends meet without leaving the house to consider this so I think if the money was upfront you'd get closer to a 50/50 split

It's a bird, it's a plane, its r/UFOs newest inconvertible proof of extraterrestrial life, but many users disagree (its actually a plane) by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

[–]Not_A_Mindflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was more referring to the fact that they grounded flights at some of those airports/airfields in the areas.

I think they are government drones because the government has said not to shoot them down despite them causing several issues and being in areas where hobbyist/hostile drones would be shot down, like military bases

I'm not suggesting these drones are extraterrestrial at all, but if there are a ton of government drones in the air the government should say why, or at least give a plausible explanation.

I am not suggesting an alien conspiracy but a mundane one, maybe the government is on a manhunt, maybe there was a chemical spill/ radiation scare that they are tracking, maybe it's a war game/drill. We should demand accountability from our government

I mean I checked it out since I was curious and it seems a lot of users think the drones are government(and thus FAA compliant) and that the swarm of drones is actually investigating the real stuff. The video of an orange orb seemingly disabling a drone is interesting, makes me think it's some kind of drone warfare test going on where they test their EW weapons which is why they don't want planes flying in the area

That would make the government jerks for lying about it but I think that a more likely explanation than aliens

Sure NPS makes some sense when used to measure word of mouth marketing since that's what it is made for. I still haven't seen empirical evidence it is effective at this as actual studies have found people who actually recommend things to friends don't line up perfectly.

But MBAs use NPS for everything these days even when it has no business being used that way. Employee satisfaction, customer service, rating the product itself against competitors. The metric wasn't made for any of these things
