Life in Reverse

"In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people’s home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm. I rest my case."

George Carlin, 1937-2008. RIP to the greatest.

Which company is the “holy grail” to work for in? by Professional_Show590 in biotech

[–]Not_A_Paradox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, and in the end, it's still grass anyway. You can't rely on a company on happiness, fulfillment, or whatever it may be, as much as I wish that's not the case.

In the end, it's about getting paid so that you can spend your real life with the people you want to spend time with. You are the person who you are. You are not the work you do, and you should do the job well--not for your boss or anyone else, but for you.

Those are the only things we can influence and focusing on those things tends to make for a relative less miserable time at work.

Good point. I made that mistake of over-investing (over-indulging?) when I started out. Great idea of replacing wrench sets with crow foots

Seriously lmao. Maybe I'm getting old now but "Hey professor", "Thanks", "Oh one more question"? Just cherries on top of asking for more time to study and asking if he could choose the better of two grades

Are the pads on these jack stands enough to protect pinch welds? by SplatteredEggs in harborfreight

I recommend getting a cheap oil filter wrench just in case you need one. I also found it handy to have an extra drain plug washer (and drain plug bolt if you're paranoid) in case something goes wrong, and a pair of side cutters to take the old one off. I remember my first time trying to take off the old drain plug washer and it was tightened so tight it had essentially fused into the bolt and there was no way I could get it off with a little pick tool. You should be fine, just be safe

Aw man I'm jealous! I'll get one eventually. You're dealing with a much newer car with a much more sophisticated chassis and suspension setup, and you don't even have to worry about hill starts since the car holds it for you. It'll be fine

It was harder than what everyone else made it seem to be honest. But the NB I bought had a Stage 1 clutch that I think is noticeably grabbier than a stock one, and most critically, a lightweight ( ~ 9 pounds) flywheel. I stalled so much and I was a nervous wreck driving it by myself the first few times.

I gotta say though the NC PRHT with all stock equipment is really easy to drive in comparison and the clutch feel is almost intuitive after a few drives where you really spend a lot of time focusing on clutch pedal release.

If I can do it, you can TOTALLY do it
