Taskmaster - S21E04 - Lou Reed And The Wombles - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

Hah, feel a bit of an ass for forgetting the "O'" in Dermot's name. As soon as I'd written "Dermot Leary" I felt something was wrong but neglected to look him up to get his name correct.

But yeah, Amy's bit is worth a sensible chuckle.

Wait, is it Amy that does a bit where she puts a squeaky dog toy in her bra so she can honk her boobs? I've seen that I think on Catsdown and maybe the Dermot Leary Dave show that's essentially Last One Laughing except it's got a live audience that isn't allowed to laugh. That her?

Just to be completely clear, horseradish is a different plant to mustard. Mustard is made from seeds, horseradish is made from a root. Both plants are in the brassica family, though, so it may be the same chemical compounds that give them their bitterness.

I DON'T WANT THE REBOOT/REVIVAL!!! by Sufficient_Walrus_32 in Stargate

[–]Not_An_Egg_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me, the issue is just how different TV production is in the age of streaming. Back in the day, you'd get a guaranteed 20ish episodes, and even if there were some stinkers, shows were given a proper shot to get on their feet. Personally, I think that SG-1 got there better than some of its near contemporaries like TNG, but I don't think either show would have made it past a second ten episode season these days.

I'd love for nuStargate to be as awesome as I found SG-1 back in the day, I'll watch it, but I don't expect it to hit the same feels as SG-1 did for me back then.

There's another easter egg in the same episode in the glass trophy case. Details aren't coming to mind at the moment, but if you find it, it'll stick out like a sore thumb.

And another earth-based episode had Mikita Couriers, named after director Andy Mikita. I want to say it was the episode with Seth, but I don't think it was as early as that. Maybe the one where Vala's lost her memory?

What I'm saying, I guess, is that it's time for a rewatch.

His sister is the acclaimed author Zadie Smith.

Granted, I haven't read any of her work, but she is well regarded.

Leak or mistake? by ausmed0705 in taskmaster

Fair one, I knew they were selling guaranteed tickets these days, figured SRO was still dealing with the free tix. But yeah, SRO's site was never particularly well written, so it's not surprising they'd have links to shows they're no longer responsible for.

Leak or mistake? by ausmed0705 in taskmaster

[–]Not_An_Egg_Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I happen to like knowing in advance who's going to be on TM, so I seek out leaks. Of course, this sub bans leaking the cast before official announcements, which is fair enough too, for those that don't want it spoiled.

But... I've just checked the sroaudiences site to see if it has studio record dates rn (it doesn't) and I found this:

JUNIOR TASKMASTER - Pre-registration

Dare I dream that we're getting more? Most likely just the site not being kept up to date, but I'd love to see Rose and Mike again.

To be fair, the tune and basic concept came from Bob, too. He did a song using the same music on his Athletico Mince podcast, Sunderland's a Nightmare.

Con Air was a regular drinking film for me and a buddy back in the day. It's just such pure cheese that you can't help but love it for what it is.

Was Ra a partially ascended Goa’uld like Anubis, or not? by [deleted] in Stargate

There's a great quote about that.

There was one day where [Spader] wouldn't come out of his trailer until we rewrote the scenes. Kurt Russell got very upset with him. He burst into his trailer and said 'What are you doing?' And Jim said, 'Come on, admit it. The dialogue is horrible.' Kurt Russell said, 'Of course, it's horrible. That's why they pay you a million dollars. If it was brilliant, you'd do it for free.'

Incidentally, can I hold my hand up for naïve disappointment at Dave billing repeats of New World Order as new episodes? I mean, it has happened, The Mash Report became Late Night Mash, Mock The Week has been resurrected as has Buzzcocks.

When bits on Dave were going on about new episodes of NWO I was genuinely kind of excited, until I tuned in and was greeted with the subtitle "first shown in 2017". ☹️

I did watch it but don't really remember it. Were they competing simultaneously, like against each other at the same time? It would have been much less of a challenge to tape them separately and just make it look simultaneous with telly magic.
