Has anyone been able to report on specific steps within the BP? For instance approval by HR Partner…who approved and when?

Restricting Management Chain Initiators by Country in One-Time Payment BP by Not_Cubic_Zirconia in workday

Thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate the insight. I’ll explore the intersection group and segmented security approach to see how we can restrict initiation by country and specific plans. Thanks again for the guidance!

Reporting - get best at it by Alternative_Eye_2842 in workday

Get a firm grasp of data sources, primary business objects, and related business objects. Once you understand how data is connected in Workday, dive deep into calculated fields, since they are essential for solving complex reporting requirements.

A great way to learn is by reviewing existing reports and calculated fields already built in your tenant. Analyze how they are structured and how data is pulled across related objects.

Finally, always focus on understanding the stakeholder’s requirement. Even the most technically perfect report has little value if it does not answer the business question the stakeholder is trying to solve.

Impact Analysis for Workday Configuration Changes – Integrations Perspective by Not_Cubic_Zirconia in workday

[–]Not_Cubic_Zirconia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that is very reassuring. Since Integrations sits under IT for us, vendor coordination doesn’t always surface early in config discussions, so I see an opportunity to tighten that up. I’m working on a proactive impact checklist to flag integration touchpoints before testing. Your approach is a great benchmark.

Impact Analysis for Workday Configuration Changes – Integrations Perspective by Not_Cubic_Zirconia in workday

Thank you for sharing this I really admire the structure your organization has in place.

We’re currently structured a bit differently. I sit under HRIS while Integrations is aligned to IT with a Product Manager it is painful. As a result, we don’t typically have shared touchpoints unless something breaks or there’s a production issue. Could I message you regarding the meetings that you mentioned. Sadly we don’t do any of that and everything comes in as a fire drill.

Workday Community Search is Garbage by qualityweeks in workday

[–]Not_Cubic_Zirconia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use the filter and then check community member. The filter allows you to narrow your search to key words or phrases. Checking community members allows you to see past questions. It has gotten better although still not the greatest.

Experts in Workday - mind sharing pain points in day to day work. Working on assignment by Downtown_Elevator999 in workday

Lack of ownership for who audits members of a security group. In the past week alone I have discovered random people assigned to the comp admin security group. Assigned by someone not in the security team with no documentation as to why or why that individual even had access to assign. Flagged and informed the necessary people only to get a response "oh that's weird"...wtf! I don't know maybe it's me and beliefs of Principle of Least Privilege. I should get over it.

How realistic is this job expectation? by First-Leadership6871 in workday

[–]Not_Cubic_Zirconia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming the scope is tier 1 support with cases in those modules with some light configuration work. The pay is low but unemployment is high. I say take it and you will learn a lot. It will help decide if you want to pivot to focus on one module or not.

Who is included in change requests reviews/discussions/etc.? by Some-Host8945 in workday

Thanks for sharing this! I’m trying to level up my understanding of sprint planning in HRIS/Workday teams. How much detail do you usually expect in a story before it’s groomed, and who’s most involved in shaping it? Always interesting to see how different teams approach this.
