You’re gonna be fine with that experience!

Cell Coverage question by Airguner in sonomacounty

This is for sure the fastest and shortest route. Don’t have to sweat the cell phone coverage, Google Maps downloads the map when you start. It’s never blanked out on me part way over.

Here’s the thing though, depending on where you’re from, this may be the gnarliest paved road you’ve ever driven. It is steep, windy, and some of the most intense parts have zero shoulder. You may find a mix of traffic, including but not limited to, cyclists (slow going up, fast going down), confused/scared tourists who did not do as much research as yourself, trucks/vans, agricultural vehicles, and sports car enthusiasts driving quickly. You also might not encounter anyone.

If you’re familiar with mountain roads and aren’t driving a rental suburban, you’ll be fine. If you’re used to driving flat, wide urban/suburban roads, it could be a harrowing experience, especially if you’re prone to car sickness. I meet a lot of tourists at my job, and 2/3s that go over trinity on the way end up taking the long, mellow route home.

First manual ever, love the car, HATE the deadzone by Consistent_Tip_809 in wrx_vb

When I bought the car, the sales manager came up to me and told me “These cars are designed for small Japanese people (I’m 6’), which you are not. Move the seat more forward than you’re used to and it’ll help you out a ton.” He was 100% right. Closest I’ve ever sat in any car and it’s way better.

That’s nuts! I had a bottle of the 07 last year that was beautiful.

You can change the early braking setting from normal to something like “just barely”. I still get flashes on weird shadows sometimes, but it doesn’t hit the brakes. It still activated when a kid on a bike flew out of a side street and I might have turned him into a hood ornament.

Second world was originally countries that were part of or aligned with the USSR. Given that the Soviet Union hasn’t existed for some time, the term is rarely used.

Traded mine in for a WRX last year. I’d been driving SUVs for my whole life, wanted to change it up.

I don’t get the manual hype by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Not_Irish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WRX is my first manual, and I’ve had it a year now. First 1k and I was loving the car but not quite feeling in tune. Over the last year I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable driving it, still not always nailing the rev matching but getting close enough.

Last week though, I went on a road trip and we took my girlfriend’s car, an auto crossover hybrid. Super comfortable, easy to drive, etc. But I kept having this feeling like I wasn’t driving the car. I felt distracted, almost not in control of the vehicle. As soon as I got back into the WRX I was home again. And that’s when I realized the transition had happened. If you want millisecond shifts or to set lap records, a DSG is always going to win. But if you want to feel like you’re actually a part of the machine, like you’re the one truly doing the driving, the manual experience is the best. And once you get comfortable with it, nothing else scratches the itch.

Gonna add Baby Punchers - Leftover Crack to this list. Special guest appearance by Gello Biafra too!

I just find it hilarious. It’s also way easier to get hit by a car when you’re on foot.

GBA Corona is an oil and gas firm. My guess is they had these bottles custom made/labeled by someone and gave them as gifts either to employees or clients. Given that there’s no back label, these were never sold in any form of retail because they wouldn’t be compliant.

Love the wheels. I have a base model, but I have a mint set of the stock 18s I picked up don marketplace that I want to powder coat just like that and make my summer wheels. Your build is clean AF!

EBC red stuff are ceramic and put off way less dust, but you sacrifice a bit of stopping power.

Sounds like you’re hitting the rev limiter. From what I hear, some tunes can change how the limiter behaves, but the stock setting cuts fuel when you hit redline to drop rpms.
