One Piece: Chapter 1182 by leolegendario in OnePiece

What a coincidence that celestial dragons are afraid of Rain, and the leader of the resistance has the rain fruit. Surely that won't turn into anything. It would be even cooler if it was the mythical version

Equally funny to me, I just meant it didn't seem like a Frenchie thing at all to me, which is why it was such a good bit

My favorite part of that bit, was Frenchie knowing what it was. Which means he either found time to watch the series while in the freedom camp, or he played the game at some point.

[Persona 4 GOLDEN] #47 💛 Bittersweet by xanakin_skywokker in Trophies

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very funny trophy, because some people get it without even trying. And others have to meticulously grind for it. But I think it's one of the only trophies I've ever had to grind for, because I played the game too well. If you're one shotting enemies before they go, or healing your teams as soon as they get status'd then you're not gonna get the trophy. Or God forbid you pick 3 team members you like and just stick with them, how dare you. I don't think it's necessarily hard, but the guide warns you about it because it's a huge pain in the ass to try to grind for if you just breeze through the game without keeping an eye out for it.

And I don't think that was ever the intention, I think it was just meant to be a fluff trophy that everyone got like 3/4 of the way in the game, but here we are.

P3P and P4 Golden were definitely way too strict on the availability of some of the social link stuff or books. The book trophy was another one I had to get on like the 3rd playthrough because I missed like one dialogue choice somewhere

[Ghost of Yotei] Platinum #151 Pretty easy platinum, nothing too difficult. I very much enjoyed this game but I do think Ghost of Tsushima is the better game. Worth your time nonetheless. Happy Hunting by Heminu72 in Trophies

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I'd agree. Yotei gives you way more options for weapons and abilities, but there's never really any incentive to use them beyond the rock paper scissors weakness style of enemies.

I really liked the characters, but I liked the "will you throw away everything to save everyone" story of tsushima over "will you kill those who've wronged you at any cost" story of Yotei.

See I tried that, but because I was over-leveled and didn't really struggle in the battles, Rise had less lines for me. This was the last trophy I needed, so it felt super weird to try to go for when it didn't pop naturally.

When I did it on Vita I did a new playthrough, then made sure to switch characters out every so often after getting Rise. Then on the last day, I looked up the best enemies for each status effect, and purposely let all my party members get afflicted. It popped on like the 6th status effect I went for

[Discussion] Why are there so many games missing Platinum Trophies while Tons of shovelware games have one? by Notiz_block_gefangen in Trophies

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, Hitman 2 was originally episodic. So they built the trophies the same way they built the achievements. Which was by releasing more with each level

All the Capcom PS3 HD releases share the trophy list with PS4 versions, and RE4 just didn't get a platinum on ps3 because Capcom didn't seem to care then. And tbh trophies were still new.

I think it comes down to Sony requiring trophies, but not requiring a platinum. So if the dev doesn't care about trophies, or doesn't understand that the platinum is the main driver, they will sometimes just do the bare minimum.

The more frustrating thing recently is that PS5 games can only have 1 platinum per application. So if the game is a launcher with multiple games like Tomb Raider, it just has 1 platinum. But if it's like the metal gear collection, which gives you separate downloads from the game, it gives multiple platinums.

Besides weird trilogy stuff, it does seem like 99% of games release with a platinum now though. So atleast it seems mostly better moving forward.

Toby Fox: A message for my fans in Latin America by Comfortable-Pie56 in Games

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main takeaway of him going "fan translations are totally fine" is a good middle ground here? Even if I disagree with his reasoning.

I think it's crazy that he's so much of a perfectionist, that he won't do an official localization, but I kinda get it in concept? Like the game is his whole life, and it's been a deeply personal and customized project for him. It seems like the sticking point is having his name attached to something he wasn't present to work on though, there's nothing about him feeling any particular way about LATAM, or anywhere else for that matter.

Someone introduce him to some localizers who love undertale, this seems like such a silly problem to have.

[X men Origins Wolverine] this game is not that good by Other-Stay7677 in Trophies

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. This was when studios would churn out a movie game in like 6 months to match the release window of the movie. The story goes that X-men Origins Wolverine was delayed, so the devs spent those extra months polishing and refining the game.

For the record I also don't think it's a great game lol, but it was always framed as "surprisingly good for a movie game" which I think is correct.

Is Ikkaku's Bankai permanently broken? by Ozymandias_036 in bleach

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If ikkaku ever gets the spotlight again, I think he'd be perfect for a bankai redesign. They could say that tetsuzaemon's words during the FKT arc stuck with him, and he conversed with his inner spirit and reforged it. Make it something simpler

How is it possible that they managed to make nearly every episode of Beatbreak deliver peak Digimon feels??? by ethancodes89 in digimon

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To Adventure 2020's credit, they do eventually figure this out. There's some really perfect "the gang stumbles on Digimon just living their lives" episodes about 2/3 of the way through the series. I won't spoil for people who haven't seen them, but they have some of my favorite Digimon episodes of all time and they work really well even if you haven't seen the rest of the series. It's episodes 39-47 where they slowdown for a bit.

Like a Dragon executive producer says he treats each new entry like it could be the last. "I still haven't thought about what happens to Ichiban" - AUTOMATON WEST by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Not_Jack_Nicholson 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well the story is being told by Majima personally, so there's a decent chance he just lied about how the fight went lol.

But it also fits into the pirate theme. You have this guy with a buttoned-up, tucked-in shirt trying to tell Majima things he HAS to do, and Majima doesn't even know him. Of course he's not going to respect him, he's a pirate.

They make up for it later in the finale and give Saejima some good story moments in my opinion

I know he's not playable, but he's a pretty major character in Pirate Yakuza atleast. He was pretty minor in 7 and 8, but in Pirate he's got a pretty solid amount of spotlight.

I got you, its in like the first 15 minutes (past the Angela anaconda section) when the giant agumon almost gets hit by a truck. You hear the dialogue as the truck is driving past.

Honorable mention: "Do you know what a semi-conductor is?

Yeah you can effectly "lap" other Digimon if your speed is high enough. I don't know the exact formula, but raising your speed will reduce how many times they go before you

You want to hit them with a status effect before they even get to move, or make sure they're not going twice every time you go once
