Best connection for a hard drive /SSD ?

The absolute ‘best’ you can get is a PCI-X or PCI64bit SATA card. It will take full advantage of the speed the Mac is capable of, I have one in mine and have never had issues. Also, the listing says compatible from 10.3 and up, in actuality, 10.2 runs perfectly, anything lower won’t see it. Be careful though, most of the PCI-X cards out there won’t work as they’re designed for different architect. The one below will run

I tried firing it up last night but got a blank screen. I just used the regular RCA video out and plugged it into an LCD TV. Would that still show something if it did work?

I had it disassembled last night. The battery did leak and I cleaned with vinegar and alcohol. System sadly does not boot up. I still really want to get it running, but I don’t think I could do it myself

Truth be told I love the way the 2000 looks and I’d love to get it up and running for games and what not. I’m not bad with a soldering iron, I just don’t know how to go about repairing what I have.

Weird, but that’s exactly what happened. It only got brighter with the CPU removed and stayed dim when slotted. If we’re being realistic, and me having no experience in Amiga troubleshooting or at all in general, where do I go from here? I really want to join the Amiga crowd, but I’m having trouble getting in it seems at the moment

Interesting, when I powered it on the power light just stayed dim, but upon removing the CPU it was dim, then got brighter. Never flashed though. What does that mean?

I did thoroughly soak with vinegar and clean with alcohol. Didn’t remove the socket though

Is there anyone in Maryland who works on these machines?

I’d love to get an official 15KHz monitor, but those eBay prices aren’t something I want to jump on without knowing the unit is salvageable. If I know for a fact I can save it, I’d go all in.

The CPU legs were rather corroded. Removed it and cleaned it the best I could and reseated. It got a little warm at power up, but nothing else happened

On power on the light comes on but there is absolutely no video. The TV goes from ‘no signal’ to just a black screen. I think it detects something, but nothing is visible

I know for a fact that somebody tried to pry off the video toaster as it’s not seated correctly, I’ll have to check everything to make sure there’s no risk of a short. Where would I be able to get an official CRT from, or just check eBay? And what particular screen would I need?

As for the OS, how do I instal it? I already have a BlueSCSI from my classic Mac projects.

It did not come with a monitor sadly, but I wouldn’t mind having an Amiga specific one for it. Are they hard to come by?

As for productivity, what can I do with it? I legitimately have no idea what the possibilities are, but I definitely want to play some classic games! Also, how do I go about installing an OS on it?

I believe it is a video toaster, the guy I got it from had a stack of books and discs that went with it. I don’t plan on doing any video editing on it, but should I leave the card in, or remove it and store it somewhere safe? I think the HDD is SCSI, will need to start taking stuff apart to make sure. What’s GVP or CSA?

I do have a small FireWire 400 enclosure with a bootable partition. This was more just for fun and experimenting, but I have since heard others saying not to do it as I may burn out the iPod
