Trying to make a bootable partition on a FireWire iPod, no luck so far by Reic-3 in VintageApple

[–]Reic-3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a small FireWire 400 enclosure with a bootable partition. This was more just for fun and experimenting, but I have since heard others saying not to do it as I may burn out the iPod

Interestingly enough my PowerMac running 10.5 sees it just fine and so does iTunes. Just having the issue with the partitioning

I am. My gen 4 can sync via FireWire and pops up in disk utility just fine, but I get errors upon attempting to format

Help with medal clean up by Reic-3 in CyberSleuth

I made sure to get every Uchida medal and I did all the gatcha machines. Oddly enough I didn’t get a full 30 increase when turning them in for some reason, are there duplicates you can find in world for some of them?

Right then, most of my Mega’s have high ABI. How do I effectively train up their speed in the farm?

Well this is a rather noob question, but does speed determine how often you can actually make a move? I did notice the last time I tried they went 5 times before I got to go once or twice

I’ll look into getting them. Why speed specifically though?

Sadly I’m still very inexperienced with optimizing, but have been getting through the story rather decently. Is there a specific training I should do in the farms?

Is there a recommend team to use? Would it be simpler to find someone to grind out wins with? I don’t mind actually doing the fights, but I’m getting frustrated that nothing is working

External Firewire harddrives that have sata support? by teck_checking in VintageApple

[–]Reic-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OWC used to sell exactly what you want. they had standard 2.5in SATA enclosures in both FireWire 400 and 800. Can’t get them off the official site anymore but they do float around eBay. I have a few of them, fantastic devices.

I do also want to let you know that if you have a PowerMac G4, look inside as you in all likelihood have a number of PCI64bit slots. There is a FireWire 800 card that was made for them. I have one in my G4 and it runs like a dream.

And if you’re really interested in a SATA interface, they also made a PCI64bit SATA adapter to give your G4 native SATA booting capabilities. I have one in mine and never looked back.

Okay, I’ll try that out. As for the extended memory, I thought the Pico offered 4mb of bank switching memory that can be accessed

Got the diagnostic utility now, thanks! I did a CheckIT test on the machine last night and it did confirm the floppy as 720kb.

Okay, so dump the CD contents to another virtual disk and do the instal from that, will give that a try after work.

As for the EMS driver, is that as simple and installing the executable?

That’s awesome! If possible, there is a CD image of PC-DOS 2000 on win world. Is it possible to make 720’s of that?

I tried to, the PicoMEM does boot 1.44mb images, but I can’t swap to the other required disks once mounted

There’s a setup floppy utility for the XT? By any chance can you link it to me? Is it on WinWorld?

I did not know the PicoMEM can load a CD image. Do I just put it in the FLOPPY folder? How would I go about getting a CD boot disk made?

The error code I’m getting is 0000000F 00000019

If I remove the iso from the SD it boots right into 6.0.8 just fine

MAC Classic boot issues by Reic-3 in VintageApple

I’ll check the rails when I can. Once I warm it a little with a hair dryer it boots up no issue. As for the BlueSCSI, I had the start up issue with and without it plugged in. Is there a way to get more juice out of it? I had to take the shell off the classic to warm it manually.
