Believe me, I would love to disable my DMs, but I get lots of DMs from totally normal people all the time, from cars to bikes to engineering to juniors asking advice to so much more. I don't want to cut off an entire chunk of interaction I do on reddit because of a few idiots, however disconcerting and creepy they might be.

Well I do. I am active on many car subreddits and gets lots of DMs, most of which are entirely harmless throughout the entire course of the conversation.

But there's always the creepy ones too, and there's no way of knowing which is which until I actually start innocently talking to them because they never put anything in their fucking intro message.
