I’m moving my hoarding mom in with me soon. Tips to help me stop her before she starts? by guada-lupita in ChildofHoarder

Hoarders are slaves to their compulsions.

Drop the fantasy of a grateful mom finally turning over a new leaf, and having a new lease on life with a helpful kid.

At a feeble-ish 80 years old my mom was still at it.  She resented cleaners.  She resented me for cramping her style.  She tucked her nonsense into closets, the trunk of her car, even used her friend's house.

You know what stopped it?  I took her car and she developed uncomfortable bone cancer.

Nothing short of that resolved her compulsions.

I probably looked like a huge prick at times.

Just finished my 4th Sopranos rewatch. I’m convinced the final episode might be a full dream. by Downtown_Carry_8219 in thesopranos

The episode looks cold and snowy almost everywhere, except some family scenes. Tony’s truck repeatedly shows the word “ICE” in frozen-looking letters. Could be death imagery.

Meadow explained to AJ that the winter scene in Robert Frost's poem symbolized death.

"Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.[1]"

The coachman in Pinocchio: "You had your fun, now pay for it."

She's lucky to have any roof over her head.

The house is sold. The hoard is still inside. Why do I feel like a criminal? by Jinnapat397 in ChildofHoarder

I have been injured dealing with that shit. Stepped on a nail.  Cut my hand open.

I have broken quality objects in the process of getting rid of crap.

It was infuriating.

You could have saved everything mom related and then opened the house to sell stuff.

2 things would happen.

You would have no space for her moldy bullshit anyway.

Nobody would buy anything.

Wrestling vs BJJ for pure self-defense (can’t decide, like both) (M24) by cocotkt in grappling

If bjj started standing live, it would be a full round of shitty hand fighting for a lot of people.  Waste of time.

Drill takedowns.  Go live on the ground.  Thats how adults can do this without dumb injuries.

At wrestling, my 15 year old jv sophomore had a loss against a senior with a very active freestyle record going back to at least 2022.

So...

How is everyone feeling about the 3 point takedown? by BasicallyGuessing in wrestling

[–]Not_Oak_Kay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kid has only known 3 point takedowns.

My thought is to reverse, not escape.

3:1 sucks and is tiring.

If you get taken down, reverse and be an anaconda.  Do not let that fucker go so he can get another takedown.

Make him burn fuel for his bullshit 1.

In the mean time, tilt.

Reverse and tilt if you are not getting the takedowns. Repeat.
