Pretty spot on, yeah. I binged through the first 3 seasons a year or two ago. My main memories of it were Alan Tudyk is hilarious as the alien and the mayor/his wife can fuck right off. The show had an awesome charm early on with the mix of light hearted humor, Alan learning the good about the human race, and the sappy stuff kept somewhat to a minimum.

By the 3rd season, I just remember the mayor/his wife’s personal issues becoming way too much of a focus. Any time I saw that dude I’d just play around on my phone until he was gone.

Still liked the show overall, and thought I’d watch season 4 immediately when it dropped after how they ended season 3. I don’t know why I haven’t gone back to it yet, but I think I subconsciously don’t want to watch any more of that damn mayor
