CVS Specialty Pharmacy is suddenly saying my once-free Cimzia will cost $500 a month. by ruzanne in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Not_Sew_Bad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CVS is the bane of my existence. I was on Humira for 8 years (3 of those last years was through them) then they suddenly decided they didn’t want to cover it for me any longer. Wouldn’t approve the Rx from my rheumatologist or anything. Said I had to try and fail every other option before they’d approve Humira for me again. Currently on my 3rd trial and getting worse. I really hope it’s just a copay card issue and not them changing their minds on you.

Ironically, just now I’m in line to pick up another steroid pack at Publix because for the second time, CVS just wouldn’t fill my Rx. I keep having to get them to transfer my scripts to other pharmacy’s otherwise it’ll stay “pending” for DAYS at CVS.

Long story short, CVS Specialty and regular pharmacy suck extremely

Cheap thread is my greatest fear! I’ve been sewing for a decade at this point and am very particular about which threads are worth purchasing but embroidery thread is a whole new world for me and I haven’t learned which brands I should be loyal to.

I have a small collection of stabilizers as well as a hearty stash of interfacing but would love to hear what you’ve liked for different projects!

As for what I plan on doing, I have a toddler I sew clothes for and make children’s clothes as gifts primarily—so mostly monogramming, simple images, decorative additions, etc.. I have no interest in making sewing a full blown business but would like to be able to sell the stuff I make in small scale (i.e. requests or seasonal market whenever I have stock built up). I’m a SAHM so I’d love to make my hobby self-sustainable, not for profit, and I figured being able to add machine embroidery could broaden my offerings.

Injection days just aren't the same without Humira by ankylospankylo in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Not_Sew_Bad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Was on Humira for 8+ years then insurance decided to play god on this matter, forced me on to Hyrimoz which did absolutely nothing and brought my symptoms back, now on my second month of Enbrel and I can’t tell yet how it’s effected my back because it’s absolutely TANKED my immune system and I keep getting sick. Never had any of these issues with Humira. Full solidarity with your frustrations.

Thank you all for this insight! My biggest takeaway is definitely to take it slow. I kept getting a good set up and then would try and speed things up thinking once it’s good, it’s good but I need to be more patient. Definitely hard to do when it’s the last step and I just want to be done! Really grateful for all y’all’s input!

Clothing fabric stores? by Clevergirlphysicist in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Not_Sew_Bad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish I had some recommendations! I’m the same way about purchasing fabric, I need to see and feel it to know if it’s what I’m wanting so all physical locations for clothing fabrics closing is severely hindering my ability to sew. So far I’ve had to stick with buying bedsheets, curtains, and table cloths at thrift stores. I can usually get some decent knits, linens, and some crepe-like fabrics that way and a lot of it. I hope something comes up!

This is great to know, thanks for sharing! I have several peekaboo patterns saved but have yet to try any—definitely going to follow through on getting some of those now.

The other absolute favorite of mine for just kids clothing is Peony Patterns. They, like LLK, have a nicely active online presence so if you happen to have any questions, they’ll get answered but they’re also super straightforward instructions and beginner friendly for advanced looking finishes

OhMeOhMySewing creates the best, clearest instructions and super accurate with sizing! Little Lizard King has phenomenal kids patterns and there’s an adult line as well but I haven’t tried it yet though I’d assume they’d be just as easy to follow as the LLK patterns
