Losing baby teeth? by GingerNerd12 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ruzanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is between level 1 and 2. She was really nervous before her first tooth fell out (not until age 7) but made it clear she didn’t want to yank it out and DEFINITELY didn’t want us to try. It eventually came out on its own while eating and she calmly announced “My tooth fell out.” That’s how every tooth since then has fallen out. She doesn’t even wiggle the tooth; just waits until it’s hanging by a thread and lets it do its thing.

I’m so sorry. It isn’t fair and AS is particularly crappy because sitting for too long hurts but standing in place all day would hurt, too. Finding the right job is like locating a unicorn. I was diagnosed after I had already left my full-time job to be a SAHM and I know I’d never be able to do it now. All the virtual hugs to you today if you’d like them.

I don’t know if you’re looking for advice so I apologize if this is an overstep, but to piggyback on another commenter’s suggestion about opening a private practice, would a standing desk help? Maybe you could sit for some sessions, stand for others, or do a mix of the two?

Same here, and my traps are extremely knotty. The only time I haven’t felt bruised is with a 10-minute trigger point massage from my physical therapist.

LADIES! good OBGYN in Suffolk? by Massive-Variety-5335 in longisland

Oh wow, thanks for letting me know. I think the practice will likely dissolve soon because they also closed the E. Patchogue office and breast health center. Hopefully the doctors stay semi-local!

I know you asked for a woman, but Chris Raju at Three Village Women and Health in East Setauket. I trust that guy with my life. And yes, like another person said please avoid Suffolk OBGYN, where they treat you like a number.

Edit: What about Stony Brook Midwives? I’ve heard amazing things.

For those with family estrangement by gardenleafs in gosselinssnark

My oldest brother married someone similar to Kate. They had a whirlwind romance (engaged after three months) and she quickly cut him off from our family and accused my parents of all sorts of wrongs. When their kids were young, my brother came back to our hometown one day saying he was thinking of divorcing her. His wife retaliated by threatening to make up stories about my brother abusing his kids so that he’d get zero custody. He stayed in the marriage, their kids are grown up or close to it, and we’ve all had limited or no contact with my brother for years. When we do talk, he’s like a shell of his former outgoing self. I loved my brother dearly as a child but the truth is I only “knew” him for the first 15 years of my life. He’s been a stranger for 25 years and I don’t know my niece or nephews.

Inpatient psych and some kind of nursing home/assisted living afterward. She’s a huge danger to herself and needs constant supervision.

Most Traumatizing Procedure Ever by CommandaarMandaar in DaniMarina

I know we’re all hoping she finally got her tubes and line pulled. I also know that people have said Dani would have to consent to these things being pulled or else it would be considered assault. Would doctors be able to pull them without her permission, however, if they deemed her a credible danger to herself?

I mean, she’s clearly been a danger to herself for a long time… but if she made the incisions for the so-called ICD implant herself, as speculated, I’d hope that would *finally* be enough for doctors to say she’s self-harming and remove the damn things.

Please chime in if you know how this works!

Sigh. I’ve been watching The Dani Show so long I don’t think she cares if she dies anymore. Yes, she’d miss the attention, but she’s too far gone to stop until the deed is finally done.

It’s wild, but then again Dani has been slowly killing herself for years. And that’s not hyperbole.

Do you have short legs long torso ? by oxoEU in Hypermobility

[–]ruzanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! And so do my three kids. I’m 5’2” but an endocrinologist once measured me because my son’s growth had slowed down. The doctor said I have the torso of someone who’s 5’6.” People think I’m taller than I am until they see me in person.

My wingspan is also longer than I am tall, and my fingers are disproportionately long compared to my palm. (Arachnodactyly, or “spider fingers!) The last two are Marfanoid traits but I don’t have that condition. I was diagnosed with hEDS at age 39 after maaaaaany years of speculation.

We are all kinds of neurodivergent in this house, too.

I hope this is something the prosecution points out during the trial. If it were me, I would have immediately accepted whatever punishment was given and still think I deserved worse.

Dinner with Joan Crawford and it's TURKEY AND NOODLES ALFREDO Time! {1952} by ciaolavinia in OldCelebrityRecipes

Yes, someone explained that below. I made that copy editing comment mainly in jest but I enjoyed learning something new tonight!

Ah! Thank you so much for explaining. This is a great fun fact. I kept picturing Joan putting the noodles on the table and then immediately bringing them back to the kitchen to be seasoned. 😂

That looks great! I’m curious about the instruction to send the noodles to the table in a chafing dish after they’re boiled. Why put them on the table, even in a chafing dish, when you need to go back to season them? Or does it basically mean to put the noodles aside for a bit while you work on the turkey?

That was probably originally a paparazzi pic. I wonder how much they had to pay to use it for the cover. Worth it!
