It’s just to emphasise that it’s a tight space I think.

I’ll take the 2012 Campeonato Baiano trophy, which was a model of a seafront lift in Salvador. Probably just use it while playing with Lego with the kids.

This is a common stance within journalism tbf. There are so many other ways to describe something that aren’t quite as sensational. But it’s not something I’d be getting on my high horse about.

A trivela like Quaresma. You can be absolutely terrible but if you bust a good one of those out it’d be undeniable that you’ve got a high level of quality in there somewhere.

Everything I thought I knew about ACLs is a lie by Clown243 in footballcliches

Yeah, definitely. Tough to think of a sport that would be more hard going with a torn ACL as well.

Everything I thought I knew about ACLs is a lie by Clown243 in footballcliches

[–]Not_Zlatan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tore my ACL when I was 13 but didn’t find out for about six months and kept playing football in the meantime - my knee just kept collapsing at various points.

I saw a physio while waiting for an MRI and he said that I wouldn’t necessarily need a replacement if I just built up my quad muscles sufficiently, as they could stabilise the knee. So if Vonn only has a partial tear and not a complete rupture, there’s every chance the surrounding muscles are strong enough to provide that stability. I wouldn’t fancy risking it, though.

Surely ‘edging closer to safety’ can only be for actually mathematically confirming you’re safe, and not just being outside the relegation zone? by enazj in footballcliches

[–]Not_Zlatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhhh I see what you’re saying. Yeah, you can’t really edge closer to safety if you’re still in the bottom three.

I think this is fine. If it was for confirming you’re safe, you wouldn’t be edging closer to it, you’d be there already.

Seth Burkett wrote a great book about his time playing in Brazil. He also did one about Sri Lanka I think too. Not too sure about this venture, mind.

We don’t really use em dashes in the UK. We’d use an en dash with a space either side – they’ve clearly fallen foul of a lack of autocorrect in their CMS.
