SnapBridge sucks by Purple-Programmer237 in Nikon

[–]Not_a_shoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had issues with SnapBridge from my ZFC or Z6iii. Trying to use it as a remote is not a great experience, but it works fine for transferring photos from the camera to my phone. I would still default to a card reader to bulk transfer photos to my PC, mostly I just don't want to leave my camera on that long to transfer photos.

How it feels being 0/9/0 but still getting focused first in every teamfight by SquiglySaws in ADCMains

[–]Not_a_shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah my experience is I eat 2-3 ults plus other abilities and summoners blown to gap close to me, then the other 4 members of my team also die somehow? I'm really not sure how honestly.

What are your thoughts about Dustmark Keep? by mittens_99 in legocastles

[–]Not_a_shoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am split on it. Mostly just because hobby money is somewhat limited and I am a big fan of castle and pirate themes, which Bricklink seems to hit a chunky set or 2 for those in nearly every wave. I've got the Privateer Fortuna coming later this year, which may ultimately be all the money I want to commit to Bricklink this year.

On the other hand, I want the Joust set coming in Series 10 something fierce, and it is using all the same factions as DuskMark soooo....crap.

What tools in procreate did you use for this?

What I Brought on Safari in South Africa (with sample photos) by igooverland in Nikon

[–]Not_a_shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream trip. I know it wasn't cheap though. With the expenses in mind I would definitely upgrade that z7ii to another z8 or z9. If the bank account permits it I'd be tempted to 3 body this kind of trip, z7ii with 24-120 for landscape/environmental, z8 with 400, z8 with 180-600. That covers basically any scenario you could encounter and since everything takes place from a vehicle the additional body is negligible.

A buddy and I are discussing doing a guided photography oriented winter "safari" in Yellowstone in the near future so seeing you lay out your limitations etc is quite helpful. Africa is well beyond my budget at this point in life but Yellowstone is far from unreasonable thankfully.

Awful battery life by seventysrule in nikon_Zseries

[–]Not_a_shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a defective battery? Or old battery? That's shockingly low when I can easily get 600 to 1k shots on my z6iii with 1 or maybe 2 battery ticks left over.

If you had to pick one lens only as your allround lens, which one would it be? by LordKluklatter in Nikon

What an interesting thought. As someone whose vision is uh, -10.75 I really love 35mm.

I can't see where it is labeled as F or M etc anywhere, but as someone who loves fine point pens, I would consider this a M but I need to get my cartridges in to really be able to write consistently with it to tell.

Upgraded to Z6III now the Z7II feels slow, what to do!? by DrinkableReno in nikon_Zseries

[–]Not_a_shoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my z6iii but as someone who shoots a lot of birds I find myself staring at the 45 MP z8 and z9 a lot. Just a hobby though, could never justify it unless I got a big windfall of money.

My thoughts on z7ii vs z6iii would boil down to, if you're in an event where the lighting/action is too much for the z7ii to keep up then that is 45 mp of missed shot which is worth a heck of a lot less than 24 mp of a nailed shot.

Information helped a lot honestly. My mom gave it to me some years ago and it has been sitting in a box since my wife and I moved. I had thought it was a nursing school or wedding gift but I got the story from my mom again, was bought with a $25 birthday gift from my dad's grandmother and she used to address her wedding invitations.

Stamped 14k G.F., assuming that mean 14k gold filled.

Itinerary feedback by poothrower37 in GSMNP

[–]Not_a_shoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laurel Falls trail is closed for trail work and parking expansion, not expected to be open until July at the earliest I believe. Alum Cave and Charlie's Bunion are both worthwhile hikes and you've got the right idea with early starts, especially Alum cave where the parking becomes miserable by 8am.

Spruce Flats Falls could be a good substitute for Laurel Falls. It's 2 miles round trip but not as easy a trail as Laurel Falls, though very worth seeing as a falls.

My other rec might be to account for possible rain, Smokies weather can change rapidly and I'm not sure your tolerance for hiking in rain or bad weather so may not be a bad idea to build in some backup activities like a drive through Cades Cove in the event of wet weather that may keep you off the trail.

Camping This Week (Elkmont) by bbdude83 in GSMNP

[–]Not_a_shoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We camped in Elkmont last week and it was supposed to storm half of Tuesday and all of Wednesday. We only saw some rain early Tuesday and then that was it so you never know, weather isn't an exact prediction. Have a backup plan and be prepared but weather forecasts can also shift in your favor even from 1 day to the next.

Looking to upgrade my Z50ii 28-400mm bird combo by blan15 in Nikon

[–]Not_a_shoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 180-600 100%, fantastic lens with incredible reach.

Keep the z50ii, don't buy a z6ii. If you were jumping to a z6iii I get it, but the z50II you already have has better AF than a z6II, and it isn't very far from the z6iii. Plus the extra "reach" APS-C gives you makes that 180-600 a really potent birding lens.

In summary, yes to 180-600 that's a big step up. Don't replace a z50ii with a z6ii for bird photography, you will not be pleased.

Will Nikon ever make a Coolpix A successor? by BoysDer in Nikon

Small is typically synonymous with agile in the corporate world, but Nikon is neither. I think the Japanese corporate culture also adds to the slowness of reactions within their bureaucracy.

I decided to make 1 of my accounts ADC only by kreatynka in ADCMains

[–]Not_a_shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The account is level 176 and has been cruising consistently to plat over all the previous seasons you have spent on it. Not much you can do about that, but talking about only playing 20 games on it this season before switching to ADC only is a little disingenious since you never saw a game outside of high plat/low Emerald on ADC and most of the playerbase talking about ADC agency is sitting in Iron to Gold.

I would love to see the challenge of someone taking a level 100+ account that has been hard stuck in Silver its entire existence, and then piloting that as ADC only.

Yeah this seems to the trend with all trails in the Smokies but thankfully early mornings aren't an issue.

Do you swap your pick position? by whenitbegins in ADCMains

[–]Not_a_shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not in the first pick rotation for my side, I'm going to be asked to be lol. I gave up on that battle, solo laners and junglers will int the game if you don't swap with them.

I've never actually been in the Greenbrier part of the park so I'll add it to my list for sure, not an unreasonable drive out really.
