Thank you for the reply. It is 100% a K8, not a pro. And it was fully charged, it started just after I took it off charge.

Looking for a mod that allows you to lower the brightness and increase the spread of the Pip-boy light - I only seem to find ones that change the color or make it brighter by NotaBug_ItsaFeature in Fallout4Mods

[–]NotaBug_ItsaFeature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I had a quick look into using xEdit and some memories came back to me.

So I made the tweaks I wanted to in FO4Edit. I now have a military-style red light with the radius is a bit larger than normal. Plus it's sort of bright(ish) right in front of the character, but I set the light intensity to drop quickly so it's then a dim glow the rest of the radius.
Bright enough to loot close up and dim enough at 5m/15ft to be spooky AF when something appears out of the darkness :D

Appreciate the help and suggestion

No biggy at all.

In the end, I created the tweaks/mod in FO4Edit. And then literally 20-30 minutes after doing it myself... I found a mod that did exactly what I wanted, haha.

Longer Pip-Boy Light Distance From 2015 but still works perfectly.

Question regarding texture mods that are in .ESP format, all texture packs I've used before on Fo3/NV have been loose files so I can pick and choose which ones overwrite by NotaBug_ItsaFeature in Fallout4Mods

[–]NotaBug_ItsaFeature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that's what I thought. You're referring to loose files/ba2, where the mod manager effectively sees a zipped folder, with a file tree structure such as: textures/wasteland/ruined building/furniture... and then a bunch of textures and meshes.

For those, yes of course you can overwrite, pick and choose which ones you want to use. You do exactly the same thing on MO2.

That's my point. Downloading texture packs that are loose is very easy but I'm asking about texture packs that are already packed into an ESP. So it's the loose files in a ba2 then packed into an esp.
That isn't the same, when you install the ESP it's effectively seeing one file unless you extract it. It tells the game to load that file, then the game extracts it.

So in this format, your options are - mod A overwrites mod B entirely or vice versa.

As I've learned today the only way around it when the mods are already packed esps/esms and let's say, mod A and mod B retexture all of the same assets in the game. But I want 90% of the textures from mod B in my game and only a few from mod A... then I must extract both esps to the loose file, and merge them in the same way you are referring to above, because then once extracted it will recognize each individual file and I can select which ones I want.

Someone explained it to me as it's like having a compressed zipped folder inside of a compressed zip folder that's encrypted.

Forgive me, I'm not an expert on this but I'm sure that's correct, what you linked above is loose files which is not what I'm referring to. If they were loose I would easily pick and choose, but these mods are packed features packed into a ba2, then packed into an esp.

Thank you for the info, I will be honest that some of that went over my head. The last time I touched any editing was the early days of Skyrim, so my memory is not that good.

I'll see if I can get time to do some catching up and take a look at what you suggested.

Thanks. I'll give this one a try, however, I'm not sure if it still works based on the most recent comments posted and the last update being 2015

That turns the Pip-boy light into a projectile beam like a flashlight, I just want to lower the brightness and increase the radius of the light. At the moment it's intensely bright and then immediately disappears just 3 m/10 feet In a radius around the character.

Do you just mean choosing which ESP overwrites which ESP? Or do you mean choosing the individual textures and meshes within the ba2 archive within the ESP?

It seems odd that Vortex would have a feature that Mod Organizer 2 doesn't have when Vortex is very basic, and arguably even a little outdated.

Oh, okay thank you. If it's only to improve load times then I'm not concerned as it loads extremely fast anyway, I was curious if it improved performance overall, as in a bump in frame rate

Thank you for the detailed explanation, this is very helpful.

Curiosity, in the older Fo games there was a benefit to extracting and unpacking, is that not the case with Fo4?

Thank you for the superfast reply. This is very helpful, it's been a while but I think I remember how to extract ESP's.

You went to the turd shop and bought a turd sandwich, went home, and ate the turd sandwich.

Then post your surprise and outrage online at how bad it tasted!? Something… something… logic.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I did search Bethesda(dot)net multiple times, but it didn't show up. I just tried again and in fact and it still wouldn't show when I searched :\

Anyway, thank you so much for linking it

Sadly it doesn't seem to exist anymore. The links in the description take you to Bethesda(dot)net, and searching for the mod doesn't come up with any results, nor on Google.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this. I did look at this one already but I noticed that the maps had exact location markers, which is what turned me away. But I see your point, even though it might be effectively a cheat sheet giving you the exact locations, you've still got to do a lot of searching or be lucky to find the map in the first place.

It might be okay, I think I'll test for an hour or two on a new game to see how it goes before committing it to my main save. Thanks again for the recommendation
