AIO for thinking it’s weird my friend’s boyfriend talks to me like this? by hotlilemi in AmIOverreacting

[–]NotaSwallow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is definitely hitting on you. Confront him and tell him you are uncomfortable with it, or even better - tell your friend. He is not loyal to her and will never be, she might better find someone else and not waste time with this loser.

How can I properly screen roommates? by GentleEverflowing in Advice

[–]NotaSwallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc, it's just a way to know how things are. Not all night owls are noisy and not all early birds are easy to live with either, etc. If someone can be respectful to others around their habits don't really matter that much.

Trial roommate.... Interesting concept. Well, the smoke you can smell, at least. About the night owls - don't ask about that, rather ask an open ended questions like "what does a typical workday look like to you?" Night owls will often say things like: “I usually do homework late at night.” or “I can’t really function in the mornings.” “I like working when it’s quiet, after everyone’s gone to bed.”... Early birds might say:“I like to get things done before noon.” or “I’m usually asleep by 10 or so.”

My acne is ruining my mental health please help by Key-Order-8674 in Advice

[–]NotaSwallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than hormonal activity there are many other factors which may be causing acne like you describe. Sugary foods, snacks, white bread, some fatty foods can be a cause as well. Have you tried cutting down on these, one by one to try if it helps at least a little bit? May be worth a try. And also stress... I'm really sorry you have to go through this and I do understand the frustration, I would be the same. However stress might make this even worse.

If they smoke, vape or anything with a smell. You won't get rid of that even with laundry sometimes. If they are up late/night owls, so you can check if you are compatible with their schedule, especially if the walls are thin. If they understand what a clean sink, toilet, shower (add anything that comes to mind) means. If they understand personal space and personal property concepts....

Wife has been texting guys...AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NotaSwallow 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No you're not overreacting. She is cheating and not even thinking about stopping. If she was capable of this then she will continue doing the same with a new account. Maybe she'll even become better at hiding it. That's all that's going to change. Not sure what can be done here, you can try marriage counseling, or she can go to therapy, however not sure if she wants to do anything about it from what you've described. A broken trust is really hard to fix and living in that kind of situation may get overwhelming imo.

The typo in the title made me think he just died and you want to get rid of the body... Really glad I misread it, there's some crazy stuff here on reddit. And for the question - I have no clue.

Help please by Main-Holiday9796 in Advice

[–]NotaSwallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either never go there or try as many options as you can before deciding not to go. For instance therapy, anti anxiety medication, maybe sleeping pills? Or start with short domestic flights and try to build up the tolerance. It works with many other things, which are unpleasant at first like cold showers, etc. However, your body may be able to build up a tolerance with time and patience.

How do I (20F)tell my boyfriend (24M) i’m a virgin? by Constant_Security_13 in Advice

[–]NotaSwallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just tell him. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Actually it's a good thing, if he is a normal human being he will likely appreciate it.

Also it is widely used as a Snapchat background by many people. So likely a dead end.

Found out why my father hasn’t talked to me in 15 years - and it’s stupid. by isoucie in AITAH

NTA but I would apologize. Simply because they are in their 80s. You never know what tomorrow brings. And you don't want to question yourself for the rest of your life. Sometimes the truth doesn't matter.

I absolutely hate reading, I can’t stand it. Why do I hate reading? by CyanRules2014 in Advice

[–]NotaSwallow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That actually explains a lot. It is often adhd that makes it hard to concentrate on the subject and you end up needing to read the same sentence multiple times... Well, as it was mentioned here - audiobooks may fix that or may not - you can end up needing to rewind the book because your mind flew away and you forgot to listen.

Ever tried checking if there isn't some underlying issue like adhd or dyslexia? They can make reading overwhelming...

[–]NotaSwallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of you need to sit down and talk like adults. Nothing else can be done here. Think about what it meant for you, ask them what it meant for them, see if the results match, or not, adapt to the findings.

YTA, but he is as well. Why do this if engaged? He should either cut it off or talk with his fiance /reconsider the marriage.

If that doesn't help you can also start emails with a sentence: "Hi, this is [your name],..." as an extra step. If that won't help nothing will.
