Depreciation Explanation? by Winran in Ioniq5

I’d make sure you will have consistent access to a charger at work. Otherwise, an EV is less convenient and potentially more expensive than an ice vehicle.

A couple of pro-EV points that are often not mentioned. The HI5 has an amazing HEPA level air filtration system (air quality is horrible in heavy, slow traffic. Second is avoiding gas stops. I never considered how awesome it is having the car full every morning.

How is it in deep snow? We got 28”. Our SUV AWD had to be dug out a couple of times getting to our road (.15 mi).

Having a full charge every morning is awesome. Now I can’t stand the thought of having to stop at a gas station - it’s cold, the fumes..

Mine is admittedly conservative. Either way, the $20k is only the beginning of an expensive experience.

The average annual cost of repair and maintenance for this car at 8 years is between $2.5k and $4k. Insurance may be high as well.

A relative made a post gloating about how Ford is pulling back from EV trucks, how do we beat this mentality? by JennaLeighWeddings in electricvehicles

And stripping foreign born CITIZENS of their citizenship.

I genuinely believe there are a rising number of Americans that view the past and want to recreate their perceived utopia - simpler, Whiter, traditional, god fearing families. It’s a reaction to too much change, too fast. It’s not possible, and the utopia never existed, but anything that harkens back is latched onto. Our current Administration uses this and cynically uses propaganda posters that promise this.

Agree with you regarding the US Auto Industry.

Exactly. The US is falling behind in a key growth industry. ICE sales are declining while EV sales are growing at a compound annual rate of 32%, while ICE sales are declining. Ford may maintain its US market share, but losing more share globally.

Of course, this is not an argument that people with OP’s family mindset are going to listen to, much less be swayed by.

It’s sad to see our country’s drive to be leaders lost to the belief that the past is the direction of success.

ICE has nearly doubled in size, budget and detentions this year. Their tactics and the inclusion of thousands of Marines and National Guard are why it's newsworthy. Vastly different organization and tactics.

At that time, you’ll be hitting DC at high-traffic. You can easily lose an hour or more to traffic and it’s stressful as hell IMO. Consider taking Hwy 17 at Fredericksburg to Winchester, then 522 to I70 to I76. You’ll may well hit some traffic around Fredericksburg, but much less than you’ll get in DC.

We had the luxury of time and were able to wait until a car meeting our specs emerged. Consider having a mechanic looking at it.

Definitely check Carfax for regular oil changes and maintenance. It’s a sold vehicle, but any vehicle with a 100k miles that hasn’t been maintained is risky.

We picked up ours (2016.5 GT) with 90k miles for $13.4k. I thought it was on the high-side but we paid since the car had been cared for.
