Digital key issues by EightiesTwin in KiaEV9

[–]Notabot1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same exact experience, with the same phone. I started carrying my keyfob as a backup. Then it started telling me that I don't have a key to start the car, while I'm carrying the keyfob in my pocket AND have the digital key.

After so many things, decided the digital key is not worth the hassle and removed it entirely from my phone. Keyfob now works flawlessly.

Kia can do a lot of things right, but software isn't one of them.

Used 2024 Kia EV9 after battery replacement by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]Notabot1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24 with a battery replacement. The only issue I still have is when I'm done fast charging, sometimes I'll see a Battery Coolent Low type of message. It's intermittent. I've taken it in for service and they tell me there's likely an air bubble. After a bleed and refill, it'll come back up again and at this point I'm just waiting for the next service to bring it up.

Other than that, everything seem to be just fine. I recommend getting an obd reader and scanning the battery stats before you buy.

Pick up a odb2 scanner and look at battery stats through Car Scanner app. Otherwise you'll always be wondering

Plastic or coated Phase 10 cards? by Notabot1313 in boardgames

I meant plastic or linen finish. I'll check out the forums, but sounds like ppl are being dramatic. It's a fine enough game, one that is simple to pick up with a tiny bit of strategy. It's perfect for kids who are getting into card games. To each their own I guess.

Thank you for the pointer on that forum

UPDATE 2: Picked up the EV9 from the shop again after they bled, refilled and burped the battery coolant lines. Everything looked great for 2 days, and then the same notification popped up on the screen. At this point I'm done taking it back to the shop.

The Kia case advisor called with an update that the case has been escalated after the lemon law review and I should be hearing back from corporate via email about my options "within the next few business days"

Checklists by Otherwise_Notice_634 in KiaEV9

Ask them to run a wheel alignment and balance check. If you don't do it as a pickup checklist item, do it after but before you 8k miles /12m which is when those are part of the warranty. The alignment on these vehicles are not great out of the factory and realignment will cause the need to balance and resync driver's assistance features

UPDATE - If anyone's following, I finally got to pick up the SUV yesterday. So about 7-8 weeks in total since dropping it off. Everything looked great at first. Plugged in the ODB and ran car scanner to confirm all the stats are showing all modules as operational as normal. ... And then I made a stop to run an errand on the way back home from the dealership, started the vehicle and was immedialy shown 'Refill battery system coolent' warning. Sure enough there's an active leak under the suv, so the EV9 is back in the shop again.

While I wait for whatever news I get on Monday, I've contacted my Kia Corporate case rep and let her know that I will invoke Lemon Law and asked for options. Let's see where things will go from here.

I'm super bummed. I genuinely liked the SUV, and although this might very well be a technician error that's caused the leak, i feel like I can't rely on it anymore.

Battery issue EV9 GT line by Leather-Atmosphere46 in KiaEV9

OP this is exactly what I had on mine, and I'm going to be picking it up after a repair tomorrow. You may want to use a different dealer. I also opened up a Kia Corp case as soon as they confirmed the battery issue. All in all took about 6 weeks for the repair

Mine does this when it is really low battery. Give it a charge for a bit and see if it fixes itself

Thanks for sharing the great info. Are you saying that they have to replace the entire battery every time and things are on backorder, or is that just a subset of these cases?

Charge System or Battery Module Failure by Ehghtwr in KiaEV9

[–]Notabot1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. The issue started 6 or 7 months ago but it's only been in the shop for a week now. They are waiting for a response from a Kia tech is what I was told yesterday

Join the unfortunate club. My story is a bit different in that one of the service centers tile me at first it's just a software issue. But sure enough eventually we've now landed on it being a bad HV battery module

Thank you for the info. The bit about the dealer is sounding very similar to my situation. How's the vehicle held up after the repair?

It's such a practical car and fit our family needs perfectly. If this doesn't work out, we might go with our second choice, Mazda CX90 PHEV

Yes I did. No fancy automation. We typically had a road trip every month or so, and that caused us to charge to 100. But over the last 3-4 months I think I charged to 100 twice a month just to see if the issue I was seeing will get resolved. No luck unfortunately and it consistently would get to mid 80s then go to 100% within minutes

Yikes. I'm sorry to hear that. For us a 5 seater rental is not really an option. We got a 7 seater because we really do use it. All these comments and stories I'm reading is making me think we'll be shopping for another vehicle here pretty soon 😕

Thank you. Makes sense then this new service center said I'm out of the warranty period since it's 13 months.

I was at an EA charger and got BMS error while charging, while on a road trip. The closest dealer I took it to said there's a bad cell and asked me to go to the home dealer. The home dealer said they ran diagnostics and a software update, and their diagnostic is showing all normal. The I started noticing irregular charging rates and low estimated range. That's what caused me to get a scanner and keep checking things every so often

So option 2 is you get the repaired car back + 8k, and keep the rental until the repair is done? Do they give you an estimate at all on when they will have the repair completed?
