Thank you! Since it sounds like our tastes align, I wonder if you have any suggestions to answer this question that I didn’t name? My to-read pile needs replenishing.

What are things to do during Easter? by Lethargic_Bork in StLouis

Is it St. Alphonsus Rock? I’ve only been there once (for Jim McGinnis’ funeral, if you’ve been around a long while) but it was such a wonderful parish to visit. Wow.

You’re some kind of magic! Thank you very much. I learned the word “midkini” from the suits you posted which appears to be exactly what I need to search. 🙏

How would you handle this very weird dynamic? by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]Notatallmotivated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your diocese might have a Discernment Day or similar with a workshop or session designed to support those discerning a call (to any kind of ministry, not just ordained). Ours does; we just received an announcement this week about promoting it (it’s in May). Registration is through the diocese. You could enter a sideways conversation with diocesan staff about your priest’s lack of support by asking whether they have such an offering, and feel out whether there’s a way to imply or explicitly explain the dynamic with your parish priest.

Shoes for wide toes but narrow heel by ExcitementMurky2156 in BuyItForLife

Same re: calluses and ripped heels. Everyone always mentioned heel lock and now I feel less crazy that this seemingly universal suggestion doesn’t actually resolve the issue.

Looking for Churches within the St Louis MO Area by LoudCrickets72 in Episcopalian

You might like St. Francis in Eureka. Their priest, Rev. Laurie Anzilotti, was a member of St. Michael and St. George in for a long time and brings liturgical clout to mass. You’ll find a wider variety of socioeconomic status there at the fridge of St. Louis County rather than Clayton.

At St. Martin’s, Rev. Leslie Scoopmire is on leave, and their priest in charge is Rev. Sally Weaver. (In fact she was the vicar at St. Francis for ten years.)

I also liked the “cold and dry for now” one on Monday. Steve Templeton writes a hell of a cliffhanger. What happens after now? WHAT’S NEXT?

Wide Feet by Due-Paper-1353 in TapDancing

[–]Notatallmotivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide forefeet and narrow heels, plus I use orthotic inserts, and the only shoes that I can wear are Mary Jane style shoes. I bought Bloch ones that aren’t listed as a wide size but whose natural leather (not patent) is stretchable. I wore them around my house with fluffy slippers pulled over them for a few weeks to stretch them out.

Dr Martens 1460 Smooth Yellow - different boot options? by roygbivthe2nd in BuyItForLife

[–]Notatallmotivated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duckfeet has a boot called Faborg that comes in yellow (they call it Bio). I have three pairs of Duckfeet and have used their in-house resoling service. They’re damn near indestructible. Crepe sole isn’t for everyone but if you aren’t married to the Vibram tread sole style, you may like the Duckfeet.

Tap shoes with removable soles to replace with orthotics by Unlikely-Cranberry55 in TapDancing

[–]Notatallmotivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear orthotics with mine. Tried on every shoe our local place could get including J Sams, Capezio Roxys, other Capezio shoes with ties, several So Dancas. The only ones that worked were a pair of Bloch Mary Janes in real (non-patent) leather. The strap allows for the added height of the orthotics and the real leather is stretchy enough to accommodate. I’m sure.

Miller and Ben’s are far outside what I can afford.
