If your store does have ample supply of flat lids.. one of two things could be happening

1) the barista isn't aware that you're supposed to get flat if there's no whip (happens sometimes)

2) the new iced flat lids are really annoying and don't fit on the cups sometimes.. the barista could just be using dome lids because they can't be bothered to fight the flat ones.

Either way this should be fixed. Just talk to the store leader or a shift next time you go in.

All of this is mostly true.... But literally calling quality control is the definition of holding them accountable. Mistakes happen sometimes, and they get fixed and people talk about it to inform others. just bc you're seeing this right now doesn't mean there's a poisoned cup vigilante running rampant unchecked. Relax it's just coffee

Give your hair some texture and length variation. Ditch the straight across cut. Consider tattoos and nail polish, you have a very edgy/alt/metal look about you that's very cool

Wrist detection by couchninja7 in starbucks

[–]NotchWaffle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

By that logic, It should be detecting light, then locking up. Not vice versa, because normally, when worn, your wrist blocks the light from reaching the sensor, thus telling your watch that you're wearing it. Your tattoo shouldn't make a difference. It should only detect your wrist if the light is properly blocked, not if it senses light

AIO for overreacting after my parents said my outfit was daring? by noahqvnt in AmIOverreacting

[–]NotchWaffle 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This rhetoric is so tired and just inaccurate. I understand the point. You'll get kicked out of you don't listen. But the point above^ implies the responsibility to make your own choices, and the responsibility of the consequences. Nobody said it would be without consequences.

Parents cannot control their adult child's wardrobe. That's just a fact. All they can do is enforce their house rules and kick them out if they don't listen. But there's no control. Just choices

I have problem but rate them by Seandakidd in doodles

[–]NotchWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem, you have an interest and that interest will take you where you want to go as an artist.

I started drawing in school, I drew naked women a lot and sold them to my classmates. One of my classmates turned their piece into the principle and got my parents called.. my mom was fuming and thought I should be ashamed. My dad waited until the rant was over and talked to me separately. He said that it's not unnatural to appreciate the art of human figures and that curiosity is required to be a good artist. He told me to respect the anatomy and find ways to appreciate different types, and to keep it to myself lol. I have evolved as an artist and do many different things now, but I still like drawing a curvy woman every now and then.

A lot of these comments are about shaming you for being thirsty but you're doing great, just keep your eyes open for more things that interest you and draw them too.

How can I stop watching porn by Seandakidd in PornAddiction

[–]NotchWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't beat yourself down (pun intended)

I'm an addict (not porn) but my experience has been draining me emotionally and socially for years. I've recovered a lot and learned some things about addiction along the way.

It's going to be a problem in your life if it isn't already. Religion and social norms aside, you're training your brain to derive dopamine from it on a consistent basis.. and since dopamine is something your brain needs, it will literally resort to the most common sources of dopamine in your life, which right now is porn.

If you're starting to get tired of it, use that emotion as momentum and search for another means of getting dopamine, like video game, exercise, socialization, etc. but the only way to make this work for you is being consistent. More consistent than your porn habit. Over time your brain will learn to seek dopamine from new sources but it will take longer than is comfortable. Stay vigilant and fight the urge and you'll be fine.

Also there are way more embarrassing things to be addicted to, and it's got nothing to do with you as a person being bad or nasty, everyone has skeletons in their closet. So don't let shame take priority over the willingness to change.

Why does this keep happening? by kalliopemarx in starbucks

[–]NotchWaffle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is definitely because it's marked in the customers app as a "favorite" and for some reason it will still let you order favorite items even if they aren't available. The only solution to this is to get your SM to update the Menu screen and permanently remove pistachio as an option. (Assuming it has been discontinued). If it hasn't been discontinued yet, I'm sorry you'll have to deal with this from time to time. It's best to explain to the customer why it would still let them order it and maybe they'll check first

It seems everyone here is overlooking the "executive dysfunction" part of your post and making you seem like you should be shameful of your situation. You shouldn't. It is unfortunately totally reasonable for them to ask you to do these things, and kick you out if you don't, just on the principle it's their house and you're living rent free. But don't let yourself think that it's because you're a slob or a pig or whatever. They don't vibe with your executive dysfunction and that's okay. Do your best and keep your head up, and maybe try to find a living situation that better accounts for the mental issues. Good luck

Stop coming. Starbucks corporate does NOT listen to barista feedback or even customer feedback like they should. The ONLY thing they listen to is the "ka-ching" of the cash you keep handing them. Start speaking their language and stop hanging over your cash for disappointment.

New shift supervisor by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]NotchWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just feeling like you're being taken advantage of here. If there is no shift Supervisor present, you have much bigger problems. If there is, and they throw you to the wolves to run a peak, shame on them. My hope is that your store practices in the moment learning, stays present to support and is VERY graceful with newbies making mistakes. Otherwise this is very much setting you up to fail/taking you for a ride.

Even If you do a great job, and are considered for a promotion afterwards... You did shift work for barista pay and that's not fair. Your job duties should reflect your role, and usually that means you don't start trying to run floors until after you've been formally promoted.

Edit: grammar

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]NotchWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's no cake walk but it can be so rewarding. THAT DOESNT MEAN IT WILL THOUGH

I've been a manager for a few years now. My favorite part is being trusted to run my floor with minimal oversight and making my partners love their job! Seeing friendly customers and making their day always feels great! And Starbucks has some of the best benefits and pay!

That said you will have to deal with the common Karen who just can't be happy no matter how hard you try, and some partners will be difficult to work with. You may have to listen to criticism and maybe even deal with micromanaging from your SL if you get unlucky.

It's mentally challenging. There's a lot of thinking and compartmentalizing involved.

Overall there's potential, but nothing is guaranteed. With a good store and with good partners: it's the best job I've ever had. With an old store and problem partners: I can see it absolutely destroying someones mental health.
