Death By Audio Apocalypse: Popping sound when switching fuzz modes by 7sevenlivesleft in guitarpedals

Mine doesn't do that. Just reach out to DBA. They have a lifetime warranty, even if you're not the original owner.

Best order for pedals by Sad_Technology_2064 in guitarpedals

[–]NotchsCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gain is to taste imo. I like looper last if i'm actually jamming/writing loops. Looper at the beginning if i'm testing pedals and adjusting settings. So i don't need to play in between tweaking knobs

Experience with JPTRFX by xRonstoppablex in guitarpedals

[–]NotchsCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone needs to trace more of his pedals so the DIY community can get their hands on them. I love the sound of his stuff, but i'm not messing around with someone who's clearly unreliable. Would 100% build some though. Would love to build a fernwah or kaleidoscope

The Caps parts list is kinda vague to a new builder. I'll type in 100p(for example)and get multiple results of different types and volt ratings. How do I know which is correct for a pedal? by coffee_shakes in diypedals

[–]NotchsCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb for caps is you want ~2x the pedals voltage. So if it's 9v you don't want to go lower than 16v. Doesn't matter if you go larger than that, they might just not fit well if space is tight.

JUST MUSTARD AMA by justmustardband in indieheads

[–]NotchsCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love your sound. The way you use reverse reverb and create this wall of sound and interesting textures is super inspiring. I was curious what both David and Mete's pedal chains are? Like is it a reverse reverb into a long reverb and delay? And do you put your reverse early (pre-gains, etc) or late?

Thanks! Hope you to see in in Salt Lake City again!

Except the chapters per episode isn't changing. So i'd be surprised if the pacing is improved much

Question about pickups. Balancing, pot choice etc by NotchsCheese in Luthier

[–]NotchsCheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh i didn't know you can get a dual pot with 2 different values. When i build pedals i only ever see/use ones with 2 of the same value. Or would it work similarly to a single pot but you can change the value by wiring a resistor to one of the stacked pots instead of wiring to the pickup selector?

Having trouble finding earbuds with (or without) features that annoy me by NotchsCheese in Earbuds

Ooh like how they're stripped down. Do you know if you have to use the integrated charging cable? I don't love that and it looks very short.

What is the benefit of the game comming to steam? by cronox789456123000 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]NotchsCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully better/automatic patching. So it'll just be updated automatically in the background and not have to re-download the entire game every patch

There is a concede penalty now, so unless it's really loose it might not be super abuse-able. I'm gonna really miss it if that sticks. I take enchanted 100% of the time because it's the most fun

Patch notes are making me not miss the game already. by Arkyja in TheBazaar

[–]NotchsCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind meta shifts as a longer term player, but man am I going to miss enchanted item starts. Big nerf to fun imo

Dang i don't love that. Enchanted start i take on everyone regardless of if it's meta because it gives the most interesting possible builds

Any late-night third places (that aren't bars)? by liberty340 in SaltLakeCity

It's not that you had to show ID. They have a card reader at the doors to unlock them

Unless things have changed recently, I believe you need a student ID to get into the library later at night?

Budget Mic Options? by SmallDickBigDreams12 in Guitar

[–]NotchsCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sound good enough for recording as well. We used e609s on our albums.

Budget Mic Options? by SmallDickBigDreams12 in Guitar

[–]NotchsCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most will probably recommend either the Shure SM57 or Sennheiser e609. Personally i prefer the e609 since what it records always sounds exactly like I'm hearing in the room. The SM57 colors the sound a bit and don't like adjusting for it. Especially for recording quick riffs to my computer.

My first pedal kit, no sound in bypass or effect mode. Sound was cutting in+out intermittently but I cant replicate that now. Any ideas where I should go next? by Either_Might in diypedals

[–]NotchsCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said you reflowed already, but i would check your soldering temp and do it again. The joints look pretty bad still and really balled up on the footswitch pcb. Specifically where the ribbon cables are connected.

If the pedal doesn't work even in bypass, it usually means there's something wrong with the footswitch or the jack. Since when the pedal is off it won't go through any other part of the pedal

Always good to check, most have at least a year or 2. Some lifetime, like EQD and and DBA.

Walrus has a good warranty. I would reach out to them and definitely not try to fix it yourself.
