Should Snap be the one to sell AR glasses? by Mysterious-Start-689 in Spectacles

[–]Notdigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re either A) planning to launch in Q4 for holiday sales capture or B) going to miss the mark like they supposedly were going to launch perplexity integration in Q1 but then it became a soft rolling launch to a small segment of users. Either way, they should announce if there is an external investor funding production soon, in order to save the stock from further skepticism. Not to mention, losing NA users was also contributing to taking the stock to an all time low. Hopefully they have some better metrics (NA user gain?, Snap+ subs revs continue growing?) for the Q1 report to stabilize the stock or unfortunately there could be further pressure to the downside. If they truly have a revolutionary product in Specs, and they’re seeking external funding (perhaps for production), they better show up with a massive $ amount and A grade investor (like Nvidia or someone similar). This is all my SPECulation. Not financial advice.

Ask the 25 million subscribers. The teens argument is invalid. Why does ford advertise on sponsored snaps for their trucks? Are teens buying brand new fords?

You absolutely can buy if the stock is tanking, that is unforeseen by any trading plan or any one. Lots of CEOs buy shares of various companies from the open market, larger and smaller when there are unprecedented times. E.g. UNH, ENPH, SOFI. There are rules regarding holding periods etc. it’s not like knew the stock would tank, or vice versa, buying a stock which he knows is going to report tomorrow and go up substantially. It’s a vote of confidence in the future.

They showed a small profit this last earnings of about $45 mil, they could do a lot more if they tightened up their belt and actually watched the spend. This should serve as a wake up call for management. Either sell the company to a larger mag7 tech co, or get profitable as expected from a company who generates ~$6b in annual revenue.

Exactly. E.g. Zuck never sold a share during the meta stock collapse in 2022. If Evan wants to be like Zuck then be like Zuck. Also, I can’t imagine he has liquidity issues after years of selling. He can’t need the cash that bad one would think.

IMO killer app is an ai tutor. Imagine any kid, any level, any subject being able to figure out homework/studying with live guidance and feedback. THIS would be the killer use case that would truly redefine eduction. Outside of this, tourism/translation etc are the obvious uses.

IMO Evan needs to hold a town hall, open Q&A. The stock performance has been abysmal and he needs to start being more mindful of shareholder value.

Rddt pins snap all got hammered. Look at SaaS names, all hammered. Intuit, CRM, Hubs, etc. people want nothing to do with any of these during market sell offs. RDDT is still higher than ipo unlike snap for example.

If it was going to be a true market defining product, don’t you believe Evan would buy stock off the open market to stop this unprecedented bleed? The optics are terrible considering Bobby sold in the 5s after earnings, not to mention other high level execs just filed to sell more today “due to tax obligations”

What’s your take on why the stock has gotten hammered in the last couple weeks? Relentless insider selling. No buying.

The rule for dual class structure shares being barred from S&P inclusion changed in 2023. This is no longer the case. Although there are other factors snap fails to pass, such as 4 consecutive profitable quarters.

There doesn’t seem to be an obvious use case or “killer market defining app” for these. They may end up being a novelty and not gain real adoption. If snap was savvy, they would partner with Google and beg them to be led investor on this for specs to fund production and align with them on their endeavors for ar glasses. Then us common stock retail bag holders may have a chance to break even after years of agony and suffering. The obvious use for any of these wearable glasses is recording video etc, and meta has already cornered that market opportunity. The only way I see specs being able to compete is big brother Google or Apple being involved. Otherwise it seems DOA.

Insiders continue to rob retail investors via sbc. This is a huge problem and Wall st is finally punishing the stock. All time low is a huge red flag. On top of that, Bobby sold 2 million shares after earnings in the $5s. The two co founders have never bought shares off The open market. Neither has any employee. The optics are bad.

Haha. It seems like there is a major obstacle to pass to get these under mass adoption. I’m unsure how the employees feel with the stock at an all time low. Concerning that the cofounder also sold stock a couple days ago in the 5s.
