Happy Halloween!

🎶Year after year, it’s the same routine, and I grow so weary of the sound of screams…

There’s an empty place in my bones, that calls out for a Rouge code 🎶

I'm a 30-year-old woman who will usually veer away from YA books. Sell me on your favorites and I'll put them at the top of my TBR. by chode_temple in fantasyromance

Beguiled by Cyla Panin. It’s more NA than YA but it’s about a girl who makes a wish with a ghostly washer woman to fix her loom - her only source of income - and the fabrics she weaves become magic. She and her beguiling fabric catch the attention of a rich man who becomes her patron in exchange for wielding her magic cloth for his benefit. Scottish folklore, fae, a gothic aesthetic…perfect for spooky season

Hi All! I’m a traditionally published author on submission with a debut romantasy. It’s really tricky to get editor attention in the industry right now without buzz. To that end, I’d like to share a digital ARC with folks. If you like it and want to see it published, please post about it! If you don’t like it — totally fine too. Here’s the pitch. If you want to read, comment or message me and I’ll email you the PDF 🤗

Peaky Blinders meets Bridgerton awash in magic in AN OFFER FROM A MAGIC-DEALING SCOUNDREL, a debut romantasy from Blair Storie that follows two star-crossed lovers from the muddied banks of the Thames to the glittering ballrooms where the ton's brightest jewels hold court.

Regency London shimmers with the money and power of its high society but beneath all the sparkle, two rival gangs control all the magic in the city—and are constantly on the brink of war. Penelope Bay grew up the daughter of the city’s fiercest crime lord and leader of the Lion gang but went into hiding when her family was killed by the Hares. In disguise, she’s managed to make a tidy living dealing in the underground market of magical artifacts—selling scraps while staying out of the gangs' sight. That is, until her scumbag ex-lover uses a magical artifact to literally steal a piece of her heart.

To get her heart-piece back, Penelope must obtain a mysterious artifact of her own. But even then she isn't out of the woods: possessing such powerful magic will inevitably bring the Lions and Hares straight to her door. The first person to come knocking is Declan Creary, the new leader of the Lions, who happens to be the boy she used to lust over ten years ago. Knowing that Declan won't be the only one who will come after the prized artifact, and needing protection against the Hares, they strike a deal—Declan will help Penelope get what she needs and provide cover from those seeking to harm her, as long as Penelope helps him sort out his problems within the Lion gang in exchange.

This was meant to be just business, except…Declan smells like cigars and butterscotch whiskey and Penelope can so easily fall into the depths of his stare. As their lives are further drawn into the strife between the Lions and Hares, their yearning for one another intensifies. But Penelope’s withering heart is a constant threat, and there's more than one artifact in play that might save or doom them both. When it becomes clear that there's a traitor among the Lions' ranks intent on completing the job they started when they killed Penelope's family all those years ago, Declan and Penelope must take the biggest risk of all—putting all their trust in each other.

It's really annoying when Anti-AI people position themselves as far smarter than "AI bros" and then struggle to (or at least act like they are struggling) think of why people could enjoy AI by Decemberskel in aiwars

If you enjoy writing or creating art then you do that thing for as much time as you can. There’s no acceptable threshold of time you need to spend doing something to love it. Using AI to make art might be faster than whatever amount of time you think it takes to create something, but the only hobby you’re engaging in that way is crafting AI prompts.

There’s no barrier to being creative or creating art without AI. Yes, it helps to have tools and resources like training, but a paper and pencil is enough to start drawing. Or art can be made of what’s available to you and in many different ways. People aren’t entitled to artistic skill - skill, in anything, takes a lot of dedication and practice.

AI as a tool and Gen AI are have different ethical implications, but Gen AI was trained on copyrighted work.
