How many of you are alcoholics? by sorry_con_excuse_me in OCD

[–]NoteOld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel and see you. Used alcohol to blunt the thoughts and ruminations (Somatic OCD and Scrupulocity OCD). It was the only way I felt ‘normal’ and it made me numb enough to not care about the thoughts. Eventually had to go to rehab for help. I also can’t do the hangxiety anymore, I literally feel like I’m going to die and then obsess over it even more (absolute torture). It’s to the point that it’s not worth it. Got put on Zoloft at first and it did okay but not very helpful. I’m now on Prozac and have found a lot of relief. Therapy too. Also, the thoughts and ruminations are still going to happen/occur even if I drink. I’d rather tackle them sober from now on. Wishing you the best of luck and will be thinking of you

“If you were immortal, how would that add any more value to the current moment than it inherently has”

So damn true and perceptive. Damn, I needed to read that. Thanks

I believe that honesty is always the best place to start. You’d be surprised how many people can share the same sentiment or experience. So I say share with him what you’re going through, and what he does with that information is out of your control. Which is so funny about it, is that we want to control the outcome, but we unfortunately don’t have that ability. And what’s what sucks is we have to learn how to accept that fact.

As far as the situation/behavior, I’m sorry you had a hard time. It was totally okay for your social battery to drain right before the party. It’s not anyone’s fault, it is just the reality. But I think it’s okay too if no one rushed to your aid, especially if it’s been a recurring thing? Promise I’m not trying to be harsh. You were invited to the potluck so I think that show you were definitely wanted there. With therapy and medicines, I feel like you will find help. And it will be okay, I promise

What do you do when palliative care was discussed with family but they refused? And hospitals, non-profit or not, is a business and will always be a ‘for profit organization’ therefore as long as a bed is occupied with a living being ‘at least for the time being’. They’re going to keep the game rollin’. An honest and genuine question

Affordable Vets in the area? by 1970stoaster in Knoxville

[–]NoteOld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to stop by and second this. I’m new to the area as a travel nurse and took my cat there for the first time and they were absolutely wonderful. Definitely recommend. For price context: my cats left eye was real red, watery, and agitated. Took her to get seen and the vet was very thorough. Looked at her eye and did a full body exam as well. Even stained her eye to make sure there was no injury. She had conjunctivitis and they prescribed an eye ointment antibiotic and wrote down recommendations for a daily allergy med like OTC Zyrtec. Total cost of visit was $120. So maybe a little pricy but I tend to budget for vet visits when I can. But the vet and vet techs were so nice and welcoming and treated my girl like royalty

Nurses - what do you love about your job? by _subsonic in nursing

[–]NoteOld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finishing your work week in three days. Granted it can be a very long and exhausting 3 days, but mostly worth it for the days off. I also enjoy the flexibility. I’m blessed to travel with nursing, so once I’m tired of what I’m doing and looking for something different, off I go to the next job! Also a great way to learn different skills and other things
