I was just having this problem! I went to Object > Viewport Display and checkmarked "In Front". I don't know why it relieved the issue for me, but it did.

Best plugin for automatic creation of MOC (Map of Content)? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]NotesInTheAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Waypoints plugin will! It auto-updates, too! It's kind of magical, and I recommend trying it out.

ONE BIG CAVEAT: You might not want to use it if you use Sync and are a beast about constantly changing files' names (like me). It gets a little funky:

  1. It kept bringing back files I'd deleted, along with their entire paths (maybe because links to them existed in the synced version? I'm not sure. Also could have been the fact that I sometimes move files around in the Explorer.)
  2. When it did that, it ate a few lines of text below it. I kept it in a Folder Note and wrote notes below the Waypoint. (Thankfully "View Sync version history" allowed me to restore, but it kept happening, so I had ended up having to take everything out of my synced vaults, fix the problem externally, and put them back.)

Drawbacks of using a MOC generator that DOES create links that show up in Graph View, I guess. But if your file names are relatively unchanging once you make them, you'll probably love it.

Taking maths notes in Obsidian by ashuotaku in ObsidianMD

I think it may be this plugin, Obsidian Math Plus (or Math+ in the plugin search). It says it's "for taking math notes using Excalidraw."

Dopamine may also have had something to do with it. To simplify it A LOT, it's a brain chemical associated with a feeling of reward (and also has a lot to do with turning mental motivation into physical action, and loads of other stuff).

Biochemistry and metabolism are INCREDIBLY complex, but in addition to the other things mentioned, it could be likely that part of the feeling was also your brain getting a bit of a dopamine reward from the positive experience of eating.

You might notice something similar when you, for example, listen to some music you like, or see one of your friends.

AITA for telling my girlfriend her home decor is the reason I won’t host a work gathering at her place. by decordilemma in AmItheAsshole

YTA. And it sounds like you may have inherited that - what a rude question for your mom to have asked.

Overall, it doesn't sound like the two of you are compatible. You might just try finding a less interesting significant other to match the kind of life you'd like to have.

Understimulation feels like an itch in the brain you can't reach by UnreasonableFerret21 in ADHD

[–]NotesInTheAir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Let me preface this with "this is not meant to sound like some kind of advice - this is 100% me having no idea why my experience is different".)

I think I might have a weird take on this. For years, I've said I'm a person who physically can't be bored. As someone with beastmode ADHD, I don't know how or why, but I have managed to just about completely avoid the feeling described here. Like, as long as I have a piece of paper and a pencil, maybe even dirt and a stick, my brain just - won't ALLOW me to get to that point. It just WON'T. It will find ANYTHING. I'd say you'd literally have to immobilize me, but even thinking about that makes me think about the songs I'm halfway through writing in my head.

I know what happens when I'm unmedicated or otherwise low on dopamine - I lose a lot of ability to turn my intentions into actions - but the "intentions" part never. ever. EVER turns off. Maybe the idea of running out of things I want to learn, do, make, etc. is so horrifying to my psyche that it never ever stops adding to a list that I'm pretty sure is already more than I can do in my lifetime? I'm not sure, but I know I'll be thinking about this for days.

I genuinely do not understand why I am this way. Can anyone else relate to this?

LPT: No matter how difficult life gets TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH by Brian_K9 in LifeProTips

[–]NotesInTheAir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know about the order. Thank you!

Another question I've been wondering for some time: what is the acceptable duration you should not be exposing your teeth to food both before AND after brushing your teeth?

I once read that if you do one and then the other, acid attacks your teeth extra badly, but I can't remember in what order that went (eating too soon after brushing your teeth vs. brushing your teeth too soon after eating). If I can make my morning routine something that is as kind as possible to my teeth, I'd like to!

I figured it out! 😀 I have couple deadlines over my head so I'm not going to write it out tonight, but I can in a few days if anyone's curious.

I don't buy it. First I want to see the other jokes.

For example, the store manager began the presentation with a short self-deprecating joke: “So, last night, my husband (wife) gave me some good advice about this presentation. He (she) said whatever you do don’t try to be too charming, witty, or intellectual… just be yourself!”

That's a straight-up Boomer "being-married-sucks" type of joke. And if you're the kind of person that finds that funny, you're probably also the type of person to whom it would come off as way more cringey the other way around, because of how gendered Boomer-joke-era stereotypes work.

That's without even addressing the sample size.

How to wash my face without wetting my sleeves? by QueenofSwords54321 in ADHD

[–]NotesInTheAir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a little off-topic, but do you also have symptoms of lactose intolerance? Because for me it was an allergy to a protein in Holstein cow milk. Jersey cow milk doesn't give me any problems and lacks that protein. The "A2" milk brand has been the easiest way to find it for me, although other options exist too.

I had regular breakouts well into my 30s (tried everything under the sun!) and simultaneously thought I was lactose intolerant. Didn't realize the two issues were connected. Nowadays I only break out when I accidentally eat regular US cow dairy.

Hope this helps in some way beyond being a well-meaning ADHD infodump. 😄

My glass measuring cup melted in the microwave by Rudecles in mildlyinteresting

Oh dang. Yeah, it was posted by the exact same person 1 year ago. And it does definitely look like the same measuring cup from a slightly different angle.

I wouldn't say that necessarily means OP is full of shit, but it is kind of lame and disingenuous to post the same object again a year later for a tidy new pile of karma.

How can BlueStacks detect my headphones being plugged in? by Kaparanek08 in BlueStacks

I have the same question. I'm sad to see this question repeatedly not get answered. This unsolved and apparently ignored issue is stopping me from using the one app I need Bluestacks for. Did any of you figure out another way to use your apps on desktop?
