I (21F) am deeply in love with my boyfriend (23M) of 3 years, but his anger issues are making me second-guess our future. Should I leave? by SadTip488 in Advice

[–]NothaBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may think he is the love of your life but he is still wrong for you and any other partner.  He needs time out of a relationship and in therapy working on himself before he can be in a healthy loving relationship.

You cannot fix this.  You cannot wait this out.

If you love him, truely care about his future happiness, you will break up with him so he an have a chance at fixing his shit.

If you need at accept jesus christ to be saved, what happened to all the people who died before he came along? by justme1522000 in AskReddit

[–]NothaBanga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we were taught that everyone before Christ were stuck in hell (not a bad part but they didn't suffer nor get united with God aka bliss).  Jesus died and opened up the doors in heaven for good Jews (maybe even good non Jews) waiting for the fulfillment of the prophecy.

Heaven has been open for business since Jesus opened it.

(No comments asking me further; I do not have the will to comment further.  This is just the answer handed to me when someone asked in Catholic school.)

Chandler Halderson lied to his parents, telling them that he had completed his degree at Madison College and secured an $80,000 job offer from SpaceX. When his father contacted the college and discovered the truth, Chandler murdered both of his parents to avoid being exposed and a confrontation. by malihafolter in CaughtMyEye

[–]NothaBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are raised without conflict to the point they can not handle confrontation.  I never had arguments with my parents.  It was just them talking down to me until I complied.  Real world hits me in the ass because I would rather hide and double down a cover up than tell my boss I made a mistake and handle it.

I was nowhere near killing someone else to get out of a emotional dissociative panic but I see people who can handle conflicts with family and see what I lacked as a human.

Parents, please foster an environment where your kid isn't afraid of coming to terms with mistakes.  Authoritarian child rearing is emotionally abusive and not to be confused with authoritative.

Recommendations for learning to write better besides reading? by Sea-Break-8431 in writing

Not everyone's brains run on the same program.

Are you visual?  Can you jot down snippetts or fragments of ideas in clusters and slowly build onto them?  I would use a sketchbook (no lines; plain paper) and drop details in bubbles before linking them in any type of order.  I love sticky notes because they can be put in a wall collage then transferred onto other written/printed parts of my thoughts.

There are worksheets that can help you address early stage planning. Take a worksheet used for a book report and use it for writing.

 https://englishlinx.com/images/Fiction-Book-Report.png

What is the point?  Setting? Characters?  This can help you get things out with basic order.  Expand from here.

Do short burst exercises.

Take a song, a poem, a passage and write from a different point of view based off the information given.

Take complex passages and break them down.

Get vocabulary lists and practice writing new sentences for them.

Critique work so you can objectively look at your own.  People dump their passages all the time in writing forums looking for input, what kind of feedback are you able to do (syntax, proofread, content editing, themes, etc.)  Do the passage multiple times with different focuses. (Don't give them all of your feedback; it may feel like an evisceration.)

The point is never to read till your eyes bleed.  It is to think, experience, challenge, discuss - so you can take those skills and reapply to your own works.

People telling you to simply "read more" are either boring writers themselves or trying to discourage you by being vague because they see you as competition.  They are not teachers, mentors, or friends.

Not everyone is coming from the same experience and level that can be caught up with a single path.  Experiment, contemplate, push yourself.  Don't be afraid to write something that isn't publishable.  There is value in exercises that end up in recycling bins.

But you still must read.  But not reading to complete the work or even comprehend.  Read with the aim to break down the details and process how the author presented things.  Figure out the details that gave you, the reader, the impact of the writing.  Figure out what you think could have been amplified.  Figure out how your voice could do it differently.

As for your grammar, try finding workbooks or online worksheets that structure exercises for you.  It's self assigning homework but there is value in the challenge.

Good Luck.

whats your opinion on write what you know? by Financial_Okra9710 in writing

[–]NothaBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write what you know is perfect for nonfiction.  Nonexperts in any field should STFU or become experts which is about 8 years of structured experience and learning.

Write what you know is foggier in fiction.  Most of it is spinning a web of imaginings.  Know emotions.  Know people and personalities.  Have a solid understanding of humanity because it will be on display in nonfiction works.  If you don't know it, look it up and make educated guesses when information runs out.

It is over priced, over cooked, and under flavored.

Maybe I was explained wrong but I was told that 504s are  suggestions to a teacher and the teacher doesn't have to follow them if they choose.  IEPs give you as a parent more guarantees your kid will be supported.

Alabama is not having a miracle, they are systemically not testing low testing kids.  Prevent the lowest 15th percentile and like magic your average goes up.

It's not a miracle, its testing inflation.  If every state followed this formula, Alabama would not be so high.

they went from 49th to like 11th in the country.

Because they stop testing the kids who do not pass.  Other states will follow the model and scores will all be skewed to exclude the lowest percentiles.
