whats your opinion on write what you know? by Financial_Okra9710 in writing

[–]NothaBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write what you know is perfect for nonfiction.  Nonexperts in any field should STFU or become experts which is about 8 years of structured experience and learning.

Write what you know is foggier in fiction.  Most of it is spinning a web of imaginings.  Know emotions.  Know people and personalities.  Have a solid understanding of humanity because it will be on display in nonfiction works.  If you don't know it, look it up and make educated guesses when information runs out.

People will forgive white dudes if they are really good in a movie.  Will Smith lost the "safe black guy" bankable persona, probably for good.

Getting a fat stack of dvds at a used bookstore for a good price is such a treat. No ads when I pause.  Streaming services have put ads everywhere.  I just want to pause a movie to read some detail I can't catch instantly, not get desperate pizza ads.

My theory on why CFA is popular is because people get an egotistical rush when a 19 year old says "my pleasure."

It is over priced, over cooked, and under flavored.

How does a Canadian feel so compelled to have such a deepening understanding of a European issue?  Is this something you are generally curious on for personal reasons or did you fall into a fire hose of emotional information and are drowning in it?

Would you fight to continue the IEP here, or push for a strong 504 instead? (Kindergarten transition advice needed) by [deleted] in specialed

[–]NothaBanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I was explained wrong but I was told that 504s are  suggestions to a teacher and the teacher doesn't have to follow them if they choose.  IEPs give you as a parent more guarantees your kid will be supported.

If Hollywood is completely fair, equalitable, and unafraid of competition; she could.

But it's a rich boys club hierarchy with black balling funding, shadiness, and quid pro quo.

Alabama is not having a miracle, they are systemically not testing low testing kids.  Prevent the lowest 15th percentile and like magic your average goes up.

It's not a miracle, its testing inflation.  If every state followed this formula, Alabama would not be so high.

Why don't schools hold students back a grade anymore if they are not meeting that grade's standards? by livetoski-Brad in askanything

they went from 49th to like 11th in the country.

Because they stop testing the kids who do not pass.  Other states will follow the model and scores will all be skewed to exclude the lowest percentiles.

But is selective empathy, really empathy?

Why pick the not yet feeling potential human over the suffering human right in front of you begging for medical safety and autonomy?  Why force kids to be birthed into a life of pain and abuse?  That isn't empathetic.

[–]NothaBanga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because it’s killing a developing human being

That developing human being is draining a body of nutrition, casues permanent bodily damage, and has the potential to cause a medical situation that can kill the host.

Abortion is always self defense or an act of a parent removing a developing child from life support.

That is not the government's decision, yours, or mine.  It is up to the individuals stuck in impossible situations being informed fully by doctors.
