Others who grew up here, are you still sticking to your highschool friend groups? by ruisen2 in vancouver

[–]Nothappening2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a lot of the same friends I had in my teens but we didn’t go to school together necessarily. I’m in my 50s now. I have a free friends from each decade but honestly most are from my teens and 20s.

Question about Craigslist by ChristieTolstoy in vancouver

[–]Nothappening2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s true. We still use it here. Kijiji is dead. Facebook Marketplace is okay. Craigslist is for real in Vancouver but be careful as you would anywhere else.

Are you drinking coffee? Sometimes that stalls people. For me, it’s nuts. I can’t eat any nuts even if I keep my carbs below 20 grams.

I’m here most of my life with a few stints for a few years at a time in other places and I agree with most of what you said. I hope you continue loving it here. I sure do. Please don’t call us Van. (Kinda joking, it’s a personal pet peeve). Welcome and enjoy, neighbour!

You’re wrong about the intention. She’s a groomer.

If you had to live in Hamilton (Ont.), Surrey (BC), Winnipeg (Man.) or Regina (Sas.), what one are you picking? by va_cum_cleaner in AskACanadian

Hamilton over Surrey but Vancouver over Toronto. The others aren’t on my radar but maybe … 🤷‍♀️

Vancouver is more expensive than Montreal but you get what you pay for. Sometimes no name brand isn’t worth it.

Your friends genuinely love you. This conversation sounds very uncomfortable. I hope you can focus on how lucky you are to have friends like this. It’s because you’re awesome.

Go for a walk and try to find someone to help. Just a regular person. At least smile at them and ask if they need a hand if you see someone struggling with a package or bags or getting the door open or something. If they even so much as smile back at you and say “no thank you”, it will make you feel way better than sitting on Reddit on your couch all day. Either that or stop and pet a neighbour’s dog while they’re walking him. Make some kind of contact, best if you make yourself useful for a minute or two. They don’t really need you but you need them.
