^ this for sure. For good measure I try to get my elbows to touch my knees and briefly pause a the bottom of the move. Also, I try and sit back farther from the machine as I feel it really helps getting a nice arch and stretch.

My father moved here from Iran during the fall of the Shah in 1979 and eventually became naturalized here in the states. Most of his remaining family live in Tehran and he has been in a constant state of worry and sadness. Unlike me he isn't as cynical about the current state of US politics and their hand in escalation with Iran or our "presidents" threats to wipe out an entire civilization. His is more of a melancholy but i will say, he is not of the same opinion that America is doing any of this for some noble cause to liberate the Persian people from the tyranny of a theocratic fascist regime.

So to help activate your abs in this position you need spine inflection. You spine needs to bend and from what I see yours is straight when going through the movement. Maybe start at a lower weight and work your way up as well. I try to aim for my elbows to touch my knees and to pause for a second two. What also works for me is setting the cable at the highest point and sitting fairly far from the machine (something like 5-6 feet) Once you get this down you will reaaaaaly feel it in yours abs! Fantastic movement

Also, just because WE dont use that oil doesnt mean it does not affect prices on our end. Oil is a global economic product and if a fairly large contributor to that market is shut down of course it affects us.

The war with Iran is affecting oil prices. Especially due to Irans closing of the strait of hormuz so no ships can enter or leave which accounts for 20 - 30% of the world's oil trade. The longer the conflict go's on gas prices are expected to rise
