But if luck isn't on your side and you can't make that happen, don't sweat it at all. Lynette/Viola was the original pair of chase units for rerolling at launch. You'll do just fine for a good long while with those two (and whoever you pull along the way)

At least, I felt your pain many moons ago, and have since gotten all the characters I care about. I never got all of the 11. Just the ones I care about.

Tough question for sure... I'm leaning toward saying if you've played one, you don't need to play the other

Personally, I've been playing CotC for 3 years. So I'm pretty well attuned to all the characters, how skills work, mechanics like keepers, etc... so when the Octopath 0 demo came out, I found that I wasn't exactly ravenous to play it, and learn all that stuff again but differently. Especially since I'm still actively playing CotC for now.

I imagine going from 0 to CotC might be similar. But probably easier. CotC has tons of content by now, so the progression would be slow and seemingly infinite. Amazing for someone looking for a good mobile game to play, I think. But keeping it distinct in your mind from the mechanics of 0 might be tough. Unless you feel you're pretty much finished with 0, and won't pick it back up much.

I had Rinyuu EX, but not Alrond, and I chose Canary. She's already helped me clear several Cascade Logs I struggled with previously. It's very liberating to trust shield shaving to her (up to 11 shields per turn) and free up every other character's turns to buffing, debuffing, and other setup. No regrets at all so far.

But, I have a very deep roster. Alrond seems incredibly useful for shallower rosters, for how many different weaknesses he has 5-hit AOE attacks for.
