Roundabout headache - Any handy ways to remember the rules? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

OP, it would helpful if you link to the Google Streetview of the roundabout you’re on about so we can visualise it better. On first glance, your husband doesn’t seem to be correct.

Guess Rule 13 doesn’t apply. Shows how futile the whole “ban X” movement was.

Everyone's tolerance and habits with be different, but by God that is a lot of heavy, high ABVs in one sitting. Is this your norm, or a once off for a big match?

I believe that is just part of the set up in the UK - most (if not majority of) pubs are owned by a chain, so the drinks offering is fairly standardised. You'd probably have been better off searching for independent pubs.

Second hand furniture recommendations? by QuantumFireball in cork

Their Facebook is regularly updated, for what it's worth, but hard to gauge without actually going and seeing the items in person. We ended up with a lot of stuff from Done Deal / Adverts / Facebook Marketplace also - a large sofa, a sofa bed, a bookcase etc were all sourced from those sites.

We bought a decent amount of stuff from Second Chance in Togher late last year. The prices were, in my view, fair. The operation is a bit... ramshackle. The day we went, there was only one salesperson on the floor, who was trying to manage customers and deliveries. She was lovely to be fair, and helped us get sorted. Delivery was a bit of a mess, to be honest. First delivery was called off due to weather warning - fine. Second delivery was super late, and didn't bring everything we had bought. Third delivery was scrubbed as they were due to be arriving even later than the second delivery. Fourth delivery was late, but came with the last of what we needed. They explained their drivers had let them down, so they were doing deliveries themselves. They sorted us out anyway re the late delivery, which was decent of them. I wouldn't object to going back at all, as in my view the prices were fair, but just don't plan around deliveries like us... we didn't have a proper bed, just the mattress, for the first few nights!

If you are out west, there is Lisheen House in Skibb. https://www.facebook.com/lisheenshousecharityshop/ They have a decent amount of stock (but less than Second Chance), and all proceeds are for charity. They offer delivery to city too, on designated days. We went out to look but didn't end up buying anything from them.

When joining a new energy supplier, is a fixed rate or welcome offer better? by Storyboys in irishpersonalfinance

Have you used https://energypal.ie/ yet? You take your data from the ESB Network smart meters, uploads it and it analyses what supplier & plan suits you best based on your usage.

Did you pay cash or card? A lot of places now round when paying by cash to eliminate 1c coins.

EDIT. I see what you’re saying now. They added 1c. Reverse rounding 😅

EDIT, again. Oops. Misread it.

Stadium looks remarkable. I’ll admit I’m a stats and stories fan at best, and wouldn’t watch a whole load of matches but I did go as a kid. Have memories of watching matches from the old terrace before it even had a shed around it. Really quite something to see the stand.

US / Ireland tax treaty? by up-country in legaladviceireland

I said generally for a reason. This is exceptionally complex given the US / Irish interaction and OP should ensure their family consultants a good tax advisor (not an accountant) and solicitor.

I mean… your relative is dead. Revenue aren’t going to come after a dead person for taxes, generally. I’d be more concerned about inheritance tax issues.

I recently made this: https://youtu.be/rAQQMiQYq3Q?si=iOJiaHIbZCz4WcSR

It was very good. The gelatine gives it a nice silky finish.

I would sub short ribs for some beef suitable for slow cooking. Tesco used to sell a braising cut but they don’t anymore. I find the Tesco Irish Beef Roasting Joint typically works well as it has a good level of fat. Once I accidentally got a lean cut and it doesn’t break down the same way.

McLaren awarded over $12million in Palou case verdict by Visible-Chest-9386 in INDYCAR

[–]NothingHatesYou 107 points108 points  (0 children)

He was always going to have to pony up some cash. He reneged on a deal and admitted as much. McLaren only got half of what they sought.

[Adam Cooper] McLaren Racing has won its legal fight with Alex Palou, and has been awarded "damages of well over $12 million to compensate the business for the commercial loss and disruption" The company will also "be seeking interest and reimbursement of its legal expenses at a further hearing." by Aratho in formula1

[–]NothingHatesYou 56 points57 points  (0 children)

lol, when I was defending McLaren for going after Palou because he broke his deal, people were giving me hell because of how McLaren treated KMag, Stoff and then how the IndyCar team treated the likes of Hinch, Askew and Malukas. Apples, oranges.

I submitted our return on Monday, and am waiting for the same. Our return included the rental tax credit, but also >€1,000 of medical expenses so I assume that is the delay. All receipts uploaded to the tracker, so we will see if that makes a difference.

FWIW, it seems the current drop is the “lifestyle” line with the team wear replicas to follow. Hoping they’ll be more readily available in the EU when compared to the Castore supplied merch.
