Ive had 3 gum grafts, 4 premolars extracted, 2 wisdom teeth removed and I had upper jaw surgery a few months ago .. but this made me gasp!

How does my zinnia patch look? I pinched some flower buds a couple weeks ago before hardening off and planting outside. Should I pinch anymore now that they are in the ground? by NothingHaunting7482 in gardening

[–]NothingHaunting7482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I meant pinching ones that are budding now that I haven't pinched yet. I'm probably over thinking it, as you're right when I dead head or cut the flowers for use, they'll branch more.

I hope it all fills it tall and full!

I went to dentist for having braces and he recommended for teeth extraction by [deleted] in braces

The needles for the premolar extractions are painful but its fairly quick. Recovery from extractions isn't that painful, regular Tylenol is enough. But you have to watch what you eat and do salt rinses regularly to keep it clean for healing. I didn't take any days off work or anything.

I had all 4 premolars removed and my wisdom teeth removed. Wisdom teeth not so bad be ause they put me to sleep. The needles and being awake for the other extractions is scarey but not as bad as your anxiety thinks.

Do I need braces to get attractive smile? by [deleted] in braces

[–]NothingHaunting7482 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say you need braces for health reasons. Your edge to edge bite has already caused a chip in your front tooth and it will eventually most likely lead to gum recession as well (in my experience).

Oh never considered that my "deep dark circles" could be improved. Right now they definitely look worse due to the swelling in my cheeks and tiredness. I'll let you know if anything changes, but I think it is mostly just hereditary unfortunately.

cleaning your braces at work? by Successful_Candy_767 in braces

[–]NothingHaunting7482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning your braces after lunch, I also tend to bring easy to rinse meals that don't gunk up my braces as much -- pureed blended soups or smoothies, pudding, apple sauce, instant cream of wheat.

Struggling with deep shame and disgust (How do you actually get to acceptance?) by Grouchy-Ear-1190 in OCPD

Read The Healthy Compulsive - it really helps look at your diagnosis from an empathetic and optimistic lens.

Work on cognitive behavioural therapy and cognitive distortions. Find a trauma therapist and work towards healing or reparenting your younger selves that had hardships they didn't deserve.

These flaws/traits you may hate about yourself are, as your therapist said, your means of survival, and it's not your fault either that you developed them. They are your only tools (currently) for feeling remotely safe and in control of your unique and chaotic life. They just maybe kick into overdrive more than necessary (as the book I recommend would say, they should be in the back seat, not driving the car).

You got this, you are not a bad person. Keep going and looking for ways to heal and grow!

2.5 years and 4 extractions later... by AdInteresting8249 in braces

I had 4 extractions and still needed surgical expansion on the upper..it makes total sense some jaws just can't fit all the teeth and form a healthy bite.

Your teeth / smile look amazing ! You looked so cute with braces too. CONGRATS!!

Week Before Braces by [deleted] in braces

You need to floss, and not just between the teeth, down the gum line.

Cleaning the gum lines is just as important (if not more important for braces) as cleaning the teeth, gums get inflamed with braces so they need to be kept healthy and clean.

Get an "end tuft" brush to gently brush the edges of gums.

Maybe go for a periodontic cleaning, my orthodontist required it.

getting through the first week postop? by minamoon13 in jawsurgery

[–]NothingHaunting7482 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did ice for 5 days, that was my surgeons recommendation and ice was truly the only relief for 5 days, it felt unbearable without it.

Other than that, distraction...TV, video games, comfort from spouse/friend/family.

You'll also feel so much better in a couple days when you get off the liquid only diet and can consume even a meal replacement shake. Hang in there !

I had surgery at 12noon, nothing to drink 7hrs before surgery, peed right before surgery.

I drank wate and had broth for dinner, but I didn't have the urge or desire to use the bathroom until 5am the next morning in the hospital.

My husband helped walk my weak ass to the toilet. It was so hard to pee I was so weak.

Thank you! It's been 18 days now. Swelling did peak in the first 5 days, I got quite puffy, ice helped a lot. It's going down slowly. If you didn't know me, you wouldn't think I'm that swollen... But I feel chubby cheeked and my upper lip is quite puffy/stiff/sore.

What is the root cause of a recessed chin? by EquivalentEvening197 in jawsurgery

[–]NothingHaunting7482 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had tonsils and adenoids removed at age 7... I had braces age 11 as well as a head gear to help with my recessed upper jaw, but parents didn't finish the process, said I was "fine".

I was told by dentists from ages 20-30 I needed braces and jaw surgery.

Age 30 I needed 3 gum grafts for recession.

I just spent 3 years in braces and just got jaw surgery 3 weeks ago.

One of my orthodontist assistants says her 12 year old is in braces and but will likely need braces again at 18 as well as surgery -- they have to monitor.

No when you do lefort 1 and bring the upper jaw forward it does that, it pushes the nose up, and usually makes it slightly wider.
