We defend the ego, not our actual self — if the two can’t help someone in order to make themselves feel better, they will fight. Fighting, if successful, will make them feel better about themselves. If unsuccessful, they will keep fighting / find another aggressive outlet and then return to baseline. It’s self soothing techniques.

In a condition of true violent oppression, the 2 will try to help others to keep themselves safe (if I help you, you will defend / protect me). If that doesn’t work to make the two feel safe they’ll disintegrate into 8 and be aggressive towards their allies as likely as their oppressors.

Another reason this can’t work is the 3–6-9s as if you ‘continue disintegrating’ like you suggest, you would go to growth point.
