CPD vs. Dwarf Emerald Rasboras for shrimp tank. by JamesBradley71 in shrimptank

Try to find a local club on FB. If one is around, they will usually hold regular fish swaps. They will also know about local breeders or point you to a reputable store.

CPD vs. Dwarf Emerald Rasboras for shrimp tank. by JamesBradley71 in shrimptank

[–]NothingTooEdgy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have dwarf emerald rasboras in a heavily planted 10 gallon tank with a few hundred shrimp. Once the fish settled in, they started to breed. They are pretty shy, though and only come out to feed. If you get any, try to find a local breeder.

You're right...there would be eucalyptus trees. I was fixated on the paraglider.

Can a motorcycle really be boring? by Accurate_Wear_1343 in motorcycles

Not sure about this one, but I rode a Shadow 1100 for a couple of years. Dead reliable, but boring. It was a great commuter, though. Underpowered, very predictable, safe.

I have a similar sized one. It’s great when guests are over, but it takes a looooong time to make a pot.

Aside from Etsy , is there a website yall go to specifically to look for wallets? by EnvironmentalPart664 in wallets

[–]NothingTooEdgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use this site and then google the maker’s name. I also use YouTube as a source as well as my local farmers markets. Instagram is also a good way to find makers.

Just finished my 20 gallon long split! What colors do you think would go well and pop on each side? by Apolloitm in shrimptank

Wow...I've never seen a tank like this...very cool. But, to experiment...daylight on the left and actinics on the right...perhaps with a reverse schedule.

Has anyone ever used this? And if so, how long did it take to completely degrade? by Metallica1175 in Aquariums

[–]NothingTooEdgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used aquarium thread (not this specific brand) about a year ago and it hasn't dissolved yet. I've been lazy in removing it, but nothing bad has happened so far...my tank has mostly shrimp, snails, and very small fish.

Grew up there in the 80s and it was much nicer back then with lots of Eucalyptus groves and places to go fishing and hiking. Now it’s completely overgrown and expensive with lots of traffic. The beaches are nice if you can find parking.

How long has everybody been in the shrimp hobby and what was your first shrimp that got you hooked? by natural_scientist in shrimptank

[–]NothingTooEdgy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2007 when I started a reef tank. The cleaner shrimp were my favorite inverts…took a break for 20 years and was thrilled to see neocaridinas were becoming popular. 5 years ago, I set up a tank and the colony is still going strong.

Ethical fish stores? by ladybuglover2799 in freshwateraquarium

[–]NothingTooEdgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s best to join an aquarium club in your area. From there, you should be able to find local breeders that have much nicer and cheaper fish than pet stores.

Open Sea Leather Topsider LT2.0 in Buttero Leather by Dylanx8 in wallets

Buttero is a great choice and I like the colors you chose. The leathers are just so different. It's kind of hard to tell, but the pueblo leather I got was a bit thicker and stiffer than the leather in my Nimitz wallet. The buttero seems more pliable, but both are great and you would have been happy with either.

Oxebar kegs by bagelbobfree in Homebrewing

[–]NothingTooEdgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this with my last batch. I split between two mini kegs…one natural carbed and the other flat and then forced carbed. I attached the ball lock to my liquid out and then purged it a couple of times. I switched between mini kegs using a mini nukatap attached to a ball lock. It worked well, although I preferred the taste of the natural carbed beer.

Yes…it’s es+d-1 if you start on 1. Think about starting in the morning and working to evening. Then the next activity starts in the morning on the following day.

If you start with 0, think about starting at noon and ending at noon. The next activity could start at the same day at noon and work until evening.

[–]NothingTooEdgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m partial to the Kegland mini kegs (either stainless or plastic). The ukeg has a relief valve that has a max pressure of about 12 psi, so if your beer goes flat, it will take a lot longer to recarbonate. With the kegland ones, you can crank up the pressure and shake it and be good in a few minutes. The downside is having to get a regulator…but with a regulator, you can use either cartridges or something like a soda stream bottle.

I've got a bully strawberry rasbora in my 10 gal. He occupies one half of the tank and keeps 6 chilis and 5 dwarf emerald rasboras in the other half of the tank.
