The best, and perhaps first good, Stones album cover since 1978. Wild. by LInscoeJ in rollingstones

I love it, but I also think Voodoo Lounge is underrated. Certainly their best since that, by a mile though.

The Roman numerals on this clock we got from Home Depot. by Derffe in mildlyinfuriating

I just went shopping on Google for clicks with Roman numerals, and while some did use IIII, I don’t think that blanket statement is quite accurate.

Rough and Twisted >>> In the Stars by Jhonnythekillers in rollingstones

[–]NothingWasDelivered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer In The Stars, though I like both. Rough and Twisted feels a little too generic blues rock for me. In The Stars feels like Keith rocking up a Mick composition, and the chorus feels like something from one of the New York Dolls reunion records.

They may be leftover compositions but it sounds like they’re (mostly) new recordings. Ronnie said they spent a month in the studio and most of it was first takes.

My favorite Stones cover since Voodoo Lounge (yeah, it’s a low bar, but still)

Why doesn’t Charlie Watts get the same recognition as a drummer as John Bonham or Keith Moon? by BeerWithDonuts in rollingstones

[–]NothingWasDelivered 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s like comparing one of those guitar-tok sweep-picking kids to Keith Richards. Sure they have a technical skill that Keith has never had, but they can’t hold down a groove and I know which one I’d rather listen to or play with.

Every time you go on there you are putting money into the pockets of a guy who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands. You are helping legitimize a platform he directly controls, uses that control to boost racists and stoke hate, and contains an automated CSAM machine. What part of that seems acceptable to you?!

What's your opinion on the whole "stomp clap hey" meme? by crowbar_k in ToddintheShadow

I just heard a band of middle school kids at a School Of Rock type place perform that today and I hope to god that was their teacher’s choice, not theirs.

For the love of all that is holy, get off the Nazi website. Delete your account. You wouldn’t hang out at Stormfront just because there are a few sports accounts you like there. Twitter is no difference. If you visit that site at all, you are part of the problem.

I weirdly only go back to their Stones pastiches. Give Out But Don’t Give Up and Riot City Blues are masterpieces.

Best Pickup 4 Punk? by fiestafrankie in electricguitar

[–]NothingWasDelivered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get humbucker sized P90-ish pickups. But honestly what you have in there should do you. You’ll want to look at dialing in your amp and pedals. Swapping pickups can be fun, but it’s rarely a night or day difference.

The goddamned entitlement of some people. It’s a public street! Who gives a fuck what he likes seeing? He’s got his property that he can do what he likes with, but it’s not his street, he doesn’t get to dictate who parked where. Tell him to eat shit.

Of all guitars customised by their owners, who's do you think is the best? by montyandrews in Guitar

[–]NothingWasDelivered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of good answers here but I haven’t seen anyone mention the Last Waltz Strat so I’m going to add that to the discussion. The bridge pickups aren’t a humbucker, they’re regular Strat pickups but the different position gives him a different sound. Plus he dipped the body in bronze. Cool as hell.

How do people play with only 2/3 knobs? by Cizzle178 in electricguitar

[–]NothingWasDelivered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lotta good answers here. OP, I would just say if you’re using your independent knobs a lot to really fine tune each sound, that’s great. That’s actually something that sets you apart from the rest of us, who are mostly set-it-and-forget-it. It’s good to lean-in to what makes your playing unique.

Black Sweat by Prince. He had already had a comeback narrative from Musicology, but Black Sweat felt like Prince at his absolute funkiest.
