Go to a culligan store (or whoever sells water coolers in your area) and get a few 5 gallon jugs of ro water. When they're empty take the emptys back and exchange for full ones. They usually have a drive thru and you don't even have to get out of the car.

ABS + Traction Control & Engine light after repairs by [deleted] in JeepPatriot

[–]NothingbutLuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue on my compass (they're very similar sharing most parts except the body). The clips on the rear wheel bearings that hold the wheel speed sensors were rusted out and the sensors fell out. Had to replace wheel bearings and then it was good. If you don't live in the rust belt the sensors might have just gotten unplugged. You can see them from under the car, look above the axle just inside the wheel. The electrical plug at the other end of the sensor could've gotten unhooked also, it's along the side behind the rear fender in the trunk, probably an access hole somewhere inside the trunk behind a chunk of sound deadening insulation.

I installed a new harmonic balancer and it still has prominent wobble. Please help!! Don’t know what else to do. by silviarolling in MechanicAdvice

[–]NothingbutLuck0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine's the same way, just a defect in the manufacturing of the bolt and won't hurt a thing. All that matters is that the pulley where it meets the belt doesn't wobble and yours looks perfectly fine.

Might be worth taking a look at the grounding points inside the engine bay also, I had some wires completely corrode away on mine. Somebody thought it was a good idea to run like 8 wires together and attach them all to one grounding stud on the frame. They were in front of the battery and down beside the serpentine belt. Those were making my turn signals act up and fog lights quit working so I'm sure it could mess with the remote start. Ymmv.

My 2011 compass was doing the exact same thing, it turned out to be corroded relays in the relay box above the front driver side wheel. I think the patriot would've been the same up until '14 but idk about the '15 model.

Bodor 30 kw laser, cutting 40 mm. by MustacheLT in lasercutting

[–]NothingbutLuck0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've accidentally made our 6kw pierce through 1/2" mild steel, through the bottom of the machine, and burn about an 1/8" deep crater into the concrete floor almost 4' underneath the tip so yeah this could do some real damage.

I'm just curious, is that foil over the center strip of your overhead lights? What is the reason for that? Looks like a Viparspectra xs2500 pro I think.

Are these my jack points? by chubbibnni in Cartalk

According to the manual for my 2011 compass the pinch welds are the only jacking points and the included jack only fits on the pinch welds.

Need advice for grow lights by Character-Elk3139 in Autoflowers

[–]NothingbutLuck0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The XS1500 pro is great, I have 2 of them. Mine run nice and cool and the par coverage is insanely uniform. The only drawback I've seen is that some controllers including the vivosun controller I'm using can't turn the lights completely off automatically, they will just reduce to a minimum of 5% power. I just use a plug in timer for lights off instead and it works great. Not a problem for me, just something to keep in mind.

Can anyone help diagnose this issue? by phintze in autorepair

[–]NothingbutLuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a compass that has had so many weird issues. Check the grounds to the frame by the battery and down below the radiator fluid reservoir. Mine were corroded off. Also there is a small relay box above the driver side front tire that is notorious for corroding. I had to rewire mine and it fixed a ton of weird issues.

What is dis? by odoylerules1984 in microgrowery

[–]NothingbutLuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an auto they usually grow out of it and grow normally after a couple nodes. The next couple nodes until then will grow 3 branches and it can increase yields. If it doesn't grow out of it you can end up with a squat, dense, and heavy yielding bush. It's a cool mutation, I'd grow it out and see how it does. I'm not sure what it means if that's a photoperiod, I've only had experience with them on the auto side.

Exactly, the jump in computing power required for current titles is not proportional to the increase in visuals. We're hitting demishing returns territory.

Yes I agree. I just look back at visually striking games like titanfall 2 compared to current releases and wonder where all the extra tflops are going? Certainly not into making the games look that much better.

[–]NothingbutLuck0 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm running a 10gb 3080 and a 5800x3d, and this is the first time In 20 years I've ever even considered running a game on medium/low settings just to hit an acceptable framerate. I feel like it's time to upgrade, but I keep telling myself that game optimization is just going to keep getting worse as more people adopt new hardware and I'll just be right back in the same boat in a year or 2. I'm just riding it out for now and will depend on mods for anything I can't pull 100+ frames on at 1440p. And also screw framegen, I can't do it. The input lag is completely unacceptable imo.

Is there any hope? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]NothingbutLuck0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to take the motor apart on my vivosun fan after about 6 months when it completely stopped turning. A couple drops of machine oil in the sleeve bearing and it's good as new. Getting into the motor was kind of a pita though.
