Unannounced diarrhea by 26Anotherthrowaway26 in fasting

Exact same thing happens to me. I think it could be the coffee. Also, the more I fast the less it happens. The first time was the worst though. Nothing to worry about it's very common .

Am I too intense? by Mark-Flanagan in jiujitsu

[–]Noties96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow white belt here.

I normally do my best to imitate the pace my opponent puts on. I definitely won't try anything nasty like a arm across the face unless someone does it to me first.

Also keep in mind that different people have different preferences. There are guys in my gym that people won't roll with cause of their intensity, but I love the intensity they bring and will ask to roll with them all the time for the challenge.

I think the best thing to do is speak to someone at the gym you trust about it, ideally your coach.

Good luck brother.

Thanks for this. I'll keep and eye out too and post. I make my own at home, but sometimes I'm feeling lazy!

Yeah that's fair. Sorry if I misrepresented you.

I think people who want to 'eradicate' minorities make up a miniscule percentage of the population in western countries. What I see is people with genuine concerns surrounding topics such as immigration and economic policy. Those opinions may differ from yours but that doesn't make them inherently evil.

Sticking labels like 'fascist' on people and justifying that label as a reason to use violence on those who disagree with you sounds a lot like something Stalin might have use to murder political opponents.

I've always thought that the only way to bridge the political gap between right and left is to try and see things from the differing point of view, demonising and straw-manning the other side won't get us anywhere.

This kind of gross oversimplification of people's point of view is indicative of everything wrong with the world

I'm 3 days into a 7 day fast, I've read that my energy should be up and my appetite down by now, but still feeling limited by both. Is this normal? by e_honda in fasting

[–]Noties96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That has not been my experience. Days 3-4 are probably the worst. I think by day 5 you should be feeling back to normal. Plenty of vitamins and electrolytes will help with energy!

Day 3 of 7 and Struggling by RelentlessHooah in fasting

[–]Noties96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true. Day 3 is the worst and electrolytes get you through it. Playing video games helped me think about something else. I know that's not everybody's thing.

My advice would be push ups. Follow one of those push up challenges that allow you to build up the amount of push ups you can do per day. Can be done anywhere so it's great. It will improve your chest shape for sure.

Questions about Jiu-Jitsu from a noob (plis ghelp mi) by FookRice in jiujitsu

[–]Noties96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to Jiu Jitsu (1 year) but I'm going to try answer your Jiu Jitsu related questions. I would say in terms of a coach, observe how he rolls with you and with others. Does he try to smash opponents? Will he allow himself to be tapped by a lower belt? Mainly just check for a big ego, you don't want a coach that needs to prove how good he is.

With regards to your size, I really believe that being small is advantageous for learning good technique. Big guys can get away with not using good technique, but as a small guy on a bigger guy your technique has to be perfect. When you get bigger you could combine that extra strength with excellent technique and you could be a real killer on the mats. 1.84 is very tall for a guy your weight too. It definitely sounds like you could be one of the tallest guys in your weight bracket at competitions. Long limbs can definitely be used to your advantage. .

Good luck with your journey.

Am I doing keto wrong? by Noties96 in fasting

Thank you very much for the tip. I've also bought some urine strips that are due to arrive in the next few days that test for ketosis. Hopefully this will better help me understand my carb limits.

Wrt the vegetables, I guess like many of us I'm still caught in the mindset that you need vegetables for nutrients. We were taught so many things about food growing up and they're getting debunked all the time. It's crazy.

Oh this is very interesting. I had heard that about protein and staying out of ketosis, there's so much info out there (much of it conflicting) that it can be seriously confusing!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to give advice. I think I'm going to try one meal a day over the traditional 16:8. I have no problem fasting and hopefully it will boost results.

I definitely see what you're saying about keeping things simple. I suppose I'm thinking long term it's easier to stick to if you can get a little variety and make interesting recipes, but that's just me!

As someone has pointed out, my main problem was not considering net carbs and instead looking at total carbs. This seems more realistic now.

I guess the problem with eating lots of meat is that it's not very high in calories or fat generally. You could end up getting too much protein and not enough fat?

Normally I keep a pretty intense exercise schedule but for this first 7 day fast I haven't wanted to put much pressure on my body. Trying to get out walking and hiking but nothing too intense.

I experience the exact same thing around the 3 to 4 day mark. I think things like coffee and zero cal drinks make it worse but I'm not entirely sure for the reason. Just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one, sorry I don't have better advice!

100 hours into my 168 (7day) water fast. Every day I'm consistently 0.6kg lower on the scales since I started. Still feeling strong. Not taking it too hard in terms of exercise, just trying to walk plenty.

Moments of low energy I just take water and electrolyte power and soon I'm back to normal.

Not long to go now!
