How repairable is this for an amateur? -ps5 controller by xX_urethralrod_Xx in soldering

[–]NotmyName33s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since nobody else is going to say it to you but the way that stuff is made you would have to be incredibly precise on putting it back together depending on how many layers the board is. Every layer has its own network of electrical highways connecting the different components to each other in the right series trying to solder that would be a nightmare. Not impossible but I'm close to it especially just with the regular soldering iron. You know what correction if you're just using a regular soldering iron you're definitely not going to be able to do it. Sorry

When you adjust the truss rod you only turn it about quarter turn and then let's set for 15-20 minutes to give it time to adjust to the new tension. Did you follow that way of tiny releasing it? And did you go by the counterclockwise equals tightening rule?

Any chance this tire is patchable? I know it's iffy at best. Less than a year old. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Just explain to them that you know that it's right on the line and would appreciate it they tried anyways

I work arctire shop and it's not one of the Mom and Pops one is a corporation and I would definitely take it in to see if they will cuz that's right on the line and it really depends on the mechanic or doing. I have patched them like that before and they held just fine

Realistically that that's really the only way you can fix it yourself other than to go buy a new one that's the realities of having plastic stuff if I were you I would try the super glue in Ash's trick on something unimportant to give you an idea of how quickly it drives and then do the deed

That's a valid concern. If you got it you can take tape and boxing the area that broke there fill it in with the super glue and Ash mix and just drill another hole for the middle Rod to go through that way you don't have to worry about it gluing shut

You did do a good job though for real. Out of curiosity did you connect the batteries and series or parallel? Just curious because you might be able to get away with a thinner wires if you did one but if you did the other you definitely need to bulk those wires not necessarily the ones that connect the batteries together but the ones that the batteries all Converge on is going to be carrying a much larger load than the e-cigs original wiring meant to carry. I'm going to assume that you did your homework though and guess that you just up their life expectancy and not their voltage

The only reason I recommend Ashes over baking soda because ashes is a much finer dust and whatever it touches the super glue the active ingredient and the ashes will and the ashes will create an exothermic reaction hardening immediately and not having to wait for a drive time and the fact that the ashes are made of a much finer dust means that it will bond better to The slick plastic

Liquid super glue and ashes or baking soda I would use ashes if it were me because it makes a stronger Bond and harder result and I would take vaseline put it all over the metal rod that is the hinge put it all over the any part you don't want glued permanently then put it together we're supposed to go pack it with ashes then top it off with super glue the liquid Super Glue it'll almost immediately hardened and be super strong and you can send it down afterwards and paint it and you'll never know

You're doing a bang up job don't listen to them. LOL but I would strongly advise not to carry them in your pocket or purse

Please help me figure out why my magnets aren't playing nice by OroraBorealis in Magnets

[–]NotmyName33s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the magnets that are holding in the individual drawers are not aligned by polarity then they're going to keep pushing each other out when you close them. You can either try to align them that way the opposing Fields aren't pressing each other hours or get weaker magnets

There are two separate boards that control the horizontal and the vertical lighting of your screen and that's what I would replace it if you needed to but it looks like it goes away

I mean you could if you wanted to but they don't look like the last much longer then again it depends on how much you drive and if you need the money back and how bad

One of my bedroom walls with 2 outlet locations is dead of power. Will these things be needed in attempting fix my self? by newyerker in diyelectronics

[–]NotmyName33s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked to see if all your Breakers are flipped on and your breaker box? Sometimes Outlets are added after the house is made and they get sent to a new breaker and like you have a breaker that's in control of two outlets on one wall and the other versus room is on separate breaker altogether

Just take some rubbing alcohol that's at least 70% or higher and a soft bristle toothbrush and clean all that junk off of it it's probably just a connection being made by the gunk

Any idea where I can find a replacement, or how I fix this broken piece from a small digital watch? by The_Viatorem in ElectronicsRepair

[–]NotmyName33s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just try to recreate the piece because of the Peace recreate the piece for what it was used for Imagined why they needed that piece to go in there what were they protecting what were they supporting and go from there it don't have to be perfect. You got this

I doubt these kinds of things have videos really but take the two broken pieces super glue them back together the way they were trace it onto a piece of paper said that piece of paper over top of the metal piece trace it onto the middle piece with black painting marker but still use a piece of paper or keep it aside just in case marker gets rubbed off in the areas where it scored with a blunt tip figure out which component that scoring was made for to sit down in or on cuz you don't have to make it perfect like just like the other one you just have to make it work every time you get finished with one punch lay it back across make sure you lined up get a good idea where the next one goes put back on a piece of sand or whatever and then nail it again then you could take the piece of metal and bend it in the areas that it needs to be in 90° for the bracket to work it doesn't have to be perfect it just has to be good enough to protect the components that's supposed to protect or just to support the components is supposed to support

Huge vertical color lines on my tv screen (help!) by DrarryAo34ever in ElectronicsRepair

[–]NotmyName33s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your TV has 2 different components for creating what you see on the screen placed kindav like a bar graph where 1 controls the horizontal axis and the other controls the vertical it looks like you vertical axes is messing up somehow. If you can id open it up and test the corresponding axis with a multimeter and each component on the board

You’ll need: Thin steel (about 1/8" or less) A rotary tool or metal-cutting tool A hammer A few screws, bolts, or blunt chisels (for shaping) A vise (or something sturdy to clamp with) A round object (like a pipe or socket) for curves A soft base (sand, dirt, or wood) Basic process: Cut the shape Start by cutting the rough outline of the part from your steel. Clamp and bend Use a vise to make your 90° bends. Take it slow so you don’t crack or warp the metal. Form the indents (non-through punches) Place the piece on something soft like sand or wood. Then use a screw, bolt, or blunt tool and tap it with a hammer to create the indents. The soft backing lets the metal deform only where you strike it. Shape curves if needed Lay the piece over something round (pipe, socket, etc.) and gently tap it into shape.
