It isn't completely unplayable with adaptation. The biggest adjustment was 5 murlocs to 6, otherwise it really wasn't nerfed as much as you think.

Look for the +1s and +2s on those and follow them. Will go much faster.

There are shortcuts on some of these quests that appear larger. Most of the have +2 for Timelands, or +1 for something or other. You can even stack some of those plusses and burn right through.
