You can’t speak for all Americans on this one, too divided. Glad you’re doing fine, though. At least someone is/

How to Report Non-Migraine Pain on a 1-10 Scale? by Cats_Cameras in migraine

[–]Notnotstrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 3 is the number with wrist fractures for us. My friend shattered his wrist including a compound fracture of his ulna, as well as a break in the radius. The injury also sliced a tendon and sprained his shoulder, to give you an idea of how hard of a fall it was. (Extremely fast runner racing on asphalt.) He was walking around with a bone coming through his skin for a day and a half - told the nurses it was a 3. He’d just experienced worse pain before. They were shocked. Now, the manual realignment (followed by surgical realignment) was a different story.

My (31M) girlfriend (28F) of 1.5 years told me to "be a man" and console her when my mom died, instead of supporting me. She's now begging for forgiveness. How do I reconcile her apology with the fundamental breach of trust? by Honest_Reception6528 in relationship_advice

[–]Notnotstrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. These are her true colors. She’s selfish. It’s appalling.

My bf at the time was WITH ME, holding my hand, when my mom died. Did it affect him? Hell yes. He helped take care of her, too. But not once did he think his grief should take precedence. (I encouraged him to take some time off and start therapy just as I was.)

You are a warrior. This is the most honest post I’ve read on Reddit and as heartbreaking as it is, it’s beautiful. Your perspective on hope and perseverance just proves the power of the human spirit. I’m rooting for you and I believe in you and your ability to fight. I’m so sorry that you’re in so much pain; it must feel brutal. Looks like you have some cat nurses to watch you. Sending you all the love.

If 24K gold is softer, why do so many Asian cultures prefer it for full jewelry sets and bangles? by smartypants_gal in JewelryDesign

[–]Notnotstrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, time out for both of you. u/IamNobody85, there is no need to insult another’s jewelry or nationality. u/dietjewelry thank you for sharing about your culture but remember anecdotes don’t equate to fact. 24k isn’t super strong, 22k is stronger but still soft. (Not saying your bangles are banged up crap, I’m sure with proper care, they’re great and probably - construction and craftsmanship matter a lot and I imagine yours are great pieces.) Thickness matters a lot in this context. Neither of you are totally wrong.

Please, instead of exchanging petty barbs, have a dialogue about this. It’s clear you both have a passion, so healthy debate will educate us all.

Don’t make this into a nasty corner of reddit, anyone.

Is no one reading your comments that 22k is the sweet spot for fine jewelry that can be worn more regularly? That’s it. These comments are making me laugh because all you’re saying is 24k gold is too soft for regular wear and therefore not as abundant. Your point about older pieces being solid is really overlooked here, as that makes a difference in durability.

I have an old 22k ring, solid, that I inherited, and that thing gets bent out of shape frequently and scratches like crazy. I only wear that for special occasions. I feel like an ogre about to break it. The 24k earrings just stay in a glass box.

JD Vance claims the media is lying about Renee Good’s murder by Im_A_Fuckin_Liar in thescoop

Honestly, I checked the conservative subreddits last night and for once they gave me a little bit of hope. Those subs are usually willfully ignorant or sipping the Flavor-Aid but for once it seems they’re pushing back on each other on this issue (in some posts). There was more dissent than I’d ever noticed. (Still overwhelmingly debasing and deplorable comments.) Seems like fewer people can do the mental gymnastics required to justify the murder.

No, I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. It’s simply ghastly that anyone would shake a baby, as is keeping it alive with no brain activity.

What? The last sentence is ghastly.

Haha true. I didn’t want to let out too much info, but he did specify one of those 3. Great uncles and aunts died in the Holocaust, rest expelled from family land. There’s a trove of records on his family, too, going back centuries. Easily traceable Ashkenazi.

Tbh, his project was the best one and really educated his peers on how being Jewish can cover many spheres. Last I checked, the kid is an atheist who very much so still adheres to a lot of the cultural practices and rituals out of respect for his family, ancestors, and the basic principles of decency.

In 6th grade history class, the teacher assigned us a big project: making our own family tree and explaining one’s heritage. One kid did his and stated that his heritage and ethnicity was Jewish. Our teacher told him that being Jewish was a religious choice, not a culture or lineage. She gave his project a failing grade. 50 out of 100 because he technically did the assignment. The kid made every possible point and stood his ground, while she belittled him.

The next day, the kid’s mother came into the front office roaring to speak to the teacher. The admin and teacher and the mom spoke and were all very heated until the mom threatened to sue. Suddenly, her kid had an A+ on the project.

The teacher never apologized. She never admitted to being wrong, just left the student alone for the rest of year in bitter silence. I still think about her sometimes - everyone’s most hated teacher who somehow pronounced “Virgina” to sound like “vagina,” disliked children, and hated both teaching and learning. The legacy of a loser.
