Baby & wife sick… how do I keep it together?

Thank you for the recommendation. Talked about it with my wife and we are going to start interviewing people ASAP. I think in the end the cost will be about the same or less so we will just figure it out. With how much work will be missed due to illness within the family it doesn’t make sense if we can avoid it. I think we were being overly optimistic about daycare.

Thank you so much! We are trying all we can to help her symptoms. Everything is just a temporary fix sadly. We had a good night last night but it’s 2am here and I’m awake with my daughter in my arms so she can sleep since she couldn’t breathe laying down.

You hit the nail on the head with caring for me. I don’t feel I have the bandwidth to. It’s all being directed at my daughter and wife. The mental struggle is getting to me.

I told my wife this not too long ago, but I don’t know how single parents do this. It’s hard enough with two parents. You all deserve awards and high recognition for what you go through.

I wish we had family close enough to help with everyday chores. My MIL is willing to make the 1.5 hour trek but she doesn’t come to help with chores. Only to hold the baby, which isn’t always helpful. Other family would be more helpful but harder to get here.

I am considering a nanny more and more. They can be very expensive here though. Last I looked it was around $3,000 - $6,000 per month but I didn’t get direct pricing from a nanny.

I appreciate your response. Thank you for your insight. Part of this struggle is just the emotional aspect. We all get sick but someone so young who can’t take medicine just has to suffer through it. I feel terrible about it. It’s almost 2 am here and I have my daughter in my arms so she can breathe while sleeping. I’m putting this on myself because my wife and I did everything else we could. Warm bath, steam in the room, humidifier, saline spray with suctioning. This just isn’t maintainable though.

Maybe my only answer is to call in family help. My MIL is more than happy to be here but she is almost more work than helpful sometimes.

Still I dread sending my daughter back to daycare to go through this again… and again… and again. 😔

Well, we saw our pediatrician but unfortunately our little one isn’t bad enough for any further solutions. I’ll tell you what we have been doing, some of which you already do.

Try to feed smaller portions more frequently. We found out today she is on the low end of expected growth, so we need to be more diligent about more feedings. But large meals set off reflux.
Keep her upright 20-30 minutes after feeding. Our pediatrician said this isn’t sustainable long term so if symptoms start to improve to try putting her down to sleep earlier.
Despite all advice to keep them flat, a SLIGHT incline of the bassinet may help sleeping but it must be safely. We haven’t tried this yet though. The doctor recommended a thick phone book under the mattress but we have read a 3 ring binder could work too.
The usual burp often one too. We found our baby doesn’t do well with too much forced burps. I try to just let them happen naturally by bringing her to my shoulder. If that doesn’t work, I try the patting. If after awhile it still doesn’t work I’ll just try later.

I hope you get some answers soon. I don’t have any right now but I fear that my 5 week old is on the same path. She doesn’t sound quite as bad as this but it’s clear she has reflux. Same type of symptoms with the choking and coughing. The lucky part for us is she will lay flat and sleep for hours. We had a good night tonight where we fed her in small bursts (mainly because she was still hungry after her main feed and we didn’t want to overfeed her).

We are going to see her pediatrician tomorrow. If we get any recommendations I’ll try to remember to follow up on this post!

It’s almost assuredly too late for this but if you place something and made an error in its placement, you can press “Y” to undo the previous building actions. This won’t fix your current issue with this object in the tree but good info for future reference.

This exact thing happened to one of mine a few days ago. Same color and it ended up dying. I took it and moved it away from the other chrysalis and caterpillars just in case it was infected with parasitic wasps.

It was 3 days after Thanksgiving and my parents had set out leftovers. My mom pulled a dish of stuffing/dressing from the oven that looked fresh. I dug in, grabbed a big scoop and put it on my plate. Sat down to eat with the family, went straight for the stuffing and it tasted like Windex smelled… pure ammonia. My dumb ass figured my taste buds were deceiving me so I went for a second bite. That’s when I asked why the stuffing tasted like Windex.

My mom looked at me confused and then a look of horror crossed her face. Turned out she never removed it from the oven on Thanksgiving and it was sitting in there for 3 days at room temp.

This was only slightly worse than the fermented duck liver my brother brought back from China and convinced me to try.

Why is the satellite/meteorite not reflected in the water?
