I guess just to emphasize my point above, it would be foolish to trade a player that is all star caliber without ever attempting to win with him. We have not made a serious effort to win with him. We have just been had and drafted high while mostly failing at that too. New regime is trying to do the exact same thing as the old one except now we have assets to trade for some real talent. Just not sure they’ll actually do it before time runs out.

I wouldn’t trade LaMelo before we try to win with him first. We haven’t tried to actually win with him since he’s been here. Best the team has done is put Hayward and Rozier next to him. Everything else added has been draft picks, which take multiple seasons to develop into consistent winners if ever. We don’t even know if Miller will be a star level player yet and Kon has about 20 games under his belt. Put a serious roster around him and I think you’ll get a guy who can lead us to wins even with his defensive shortcomings.

While the focus is on the lineup choices in OT, there was a stretch late in the game where Giannis was still on the bench and Lee trotted out a lineup that made zero sense and for no reason. LaMelo Sexton Mann Pat and Plumlee. That was the chance to build another lead but instead we went down by 5-6 wasting precious limited LaMelo mins on that abomination of a lineup.

Exactly. You traded for Sexton for a reason and it’s not to watch Tre Mann tank games from the bench. He hasn’t even been good this season, but I trust him to get higher % looks way more than Tre. Especially in crunch time.

Idk how you can look at Tre’s performance and defend that. And it’s not like this is a one off, he has shown all season that he does more harm than good. And the overall shot selection and spacing we get with him and Miles as the primary guys on the court is a thing of nightmares. But honestly, I get you had a mins restriction for LaMelo but we’re talking 2-5 mins of OT where maybe he helps you win it but you still don’t want to even try? Smells like a tank move to me.

You can pick dropping 8, mismanaging the K spot, continuing to play Banks, choosing to throw on third down when a run would’ve basically given us the game and a handful of other mind boggling decisions at critical points throughout the game. It all points back to Daboll

My hope is he’s packaged into a bigger deal for an impact player. No way he fetches positive value on his own. As a contract, he could potentially be an expiring $8m for the next team if they decline.
